‘Mr. Robot’ Season 2 News: Trust No One! [Video]

Mr. Robot has found the perfect way to transcend the post-apocalyptic landscape and litter it with more people. That is, in effect, what Season 1 of the hit USA series did for its characters in the show, which parallels reality in so many ways that is just scary and exhilarating at the same time.

Warning: Possible spoilers ahead!

If there were a core meaning to Mr. Robot, then it would be hard to say the show is truly about hackers, although it is. But hackers are just the vessel for a more perfect world in Mr. Robot. They are the instruments that turned against their maker, bit the hand that fed them, then released all the prisoners, in a nut shell.

The main characters in Mr. Robot essentially are the Edward Snowdens and Julian Assanges of the world who are under the protection of Anonymous (the real-life hacker group). But this group of hackers are not just out there opening up a portal on Netflix or GameStop for their friends to have a good night of free entertainment. No, the Mr. Robot characters have a mission in mind and when they put all their minds together, they have a world to set free, so to speak.

Mr. Robot is essentially about the core values of both anarchy and collectivism colliding with the core values of slavery and oppression. They are the two factions that are clashing head-on in the cyber world, and the latter group has the full force of the U.S. and global governments behind them.

In Season 1 of Mr. Robot, the hacktivist group known as “FSociety” successfully freed the American people from debt slavery. They hacked a company known as E Corp, or “Evil Corp” as Elliot liked to call them, and encrypted all of the debt records with such an intense encryption key that it can never be broken. So without any records to access for debt collection, E Corp and its clients have no way of collecting any debts, thus freeing society as a whole.

But Season 2 of Mr. Robot, as reported by Deadline, is going to feature the real fallout from their actions, and the world is either cheering them on or hunting them down. In the end, they really can’t trust anyone.

But before we get into what Season 2 of Mr. Robot is going to be about, let’s talk about those final moments in Season 1 of Mr. Robot. Let’s take a moment to discuss that “Fight Club” turn of events that everyone saw coming but no one wanted to admit actually happened. Just admit it, in the end, you wanted Mr. Robot (aka Edward Alderson) to really be alive. Somewhere in the back of your mind, you knew that he was Elliot’s dad and that he had faked his own death when Elliot was just a boy. But you also knew that Elliot was crazy and it was not hard to figure out who Edward really was. In the end, it was not hard to figure out that Elliot was Mr. Robot all along.

So Season 2 of Mr. Robot is much more than just FSociety staying one step ahead of the law or 100 feet away from police officers at all times. Season 2 of Mr. Robot is also going to be all about Elliot’s descent back into madness. It is gong to be about Elliot trying to reconcile the events of his life and his cyber-crime. Let’s face it, to most people, Elliot is the hero that no one will ever know about. But in Season 2 of Mr. Robot, there is a better than good chance that Elliot could fall into the wrong hands while he is vulnerable, and if that happens, then all the good they did on Season 1 could be undone.

Season 2 of Mr. Robot premieres on USA network on July 13. It has been given a 12-episode order this season.
