50 Cent Arrested For Being A Potty Mouth

Just when you think you’ve heard it all, a well-known rapper gets arrested for saying a “bad word.” That’s right, according to a report by Daily News, rap star 50 Cent is drawing media attention because he has a bit of a potty mouth.

In the United States, rap and the occasional f-bomb or b-word is fairly common. In fact, many hip-hop albums are rated like movies so parents can better monitor their children’s music choices. Albums with parental-advisory stickers are very clearly flagged for coarse language and other questionable content.

As stereotypical as it seems, a large number of rap songs and harsh language actually do go hand in hand, which is exactly why 50 Cent’s latest legal issue has caused such a stir in mainstream media all over the United States.

Rapper 50 Cent has long been known for his straight-forward lyrics and raw on-stage performances. The rap star was arrested in St. Kitts after using the word “motherf*****” in his performance. Believe it or not, swearing in public is illegal in St. Kitts, which kind of makes one wonder why 50 Cent was asked to perform at that venue in the first place. It seems unlikely that any 50 Cent fan would be unaware that his music often contains foul language.

Originally, 50 Cent was only scheduled to host the event. But, the event’s organizer requested that he perform at the venue as well. According to 50 Cent’s rep, “He obliged and used the DJ they had there.” He went on to say, “Unfortunately, they didn’t have the clean version to his tracks, so there were profanities used during his performance.”

Shortly after performing for the crowd of 40,000, authorities took 50 Cent into custody. He was booked on Saturday night and returned to court on Sunday morning. By Sunday afternoon, he was on his way home.

The rappers’s rep told reporters that the show was a great experience, despite the whole getting arrested thing.

“The show was a great success and he will make sure for future trips to St. Kitts that he leaves the ‘motherf*****s’ in the United States.”

It’s unclear how much 50 Cent’s potty-mouth moment cost him in fines and court costs, but it has been confirmed that his fellow hip-hop artist DMX was required to pay $376 in 2003 for a similar infraction while he was in the Caribbean island nation.

Fines aside, finances do appear to be a sticking point for 50 Cent. He filed for bankruptcy last year, but continued to flash his wares on social media for months thereafter. He made waves by posting on social media a picture of himself and stacks of $100 bills arranged to spell out the word “broke.” The incident got more attention than he’d hoped, and in a court statement he claimed the bills were fake.

Not only that, but 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson) also recently reached a settlement with Lastonia Leviston. The settlement required that he pay her $6 million and resulted from a lawsuit in which she sued him for posting her private sex tape online to draw traffic to his website.

An arrest for using foul language is hardly the same hard-core stuff rap songs are made from, but it’s certainly getting attention by mainstream media.
