Katherine Heigl Pregnant With Baby Boy After Adopting Two Daughters

Katherine Heigl is expanding her family. The former Grey’s Anatomy star is expecting her third child with her husband of eight years, Josh Kelley. Heigl has announced that she due in January with her first biological child, a baby boy. Heigl and Kelly, who make their home in Utah, have two adopted daughters, Adelaide Marie Hope, 4, and Naleigh Moon, 7.

“The Kelley clan is thrilled to announce that we are expecting a third addition to our family,” Katherine told People. “Naleigh and Adelaide could not be more excited to welcome their new sibling into the fold and Josh and I are overflowing with joy and gratitude.”

Heigl also joked that her hormones are affecting the entire family.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for us filled with hope, anticipation, and hormones,” Katherine said. “Well, only I’m filled with hormones, but everyone in the family gets to enjoy them.”

Heigl, who keeps a lifestyle blog, added that she and her husband will be sharing their pregnancy journey with fans.

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelly adopted their first child, Naleigh, from South Korea when the child was 9-months-old. Heigl has a sister, Margaret, who was also adopted from Korea, so she always knew she wanted to adopt children. Heigl’s second daughter, Adelaide, was adopted domestically in 2012.

While Katherine Heigl hasn’t teased any names for her son, in the past, she has gone with family names for her kids. Naleigh is a combination of Katherine’s mom’s name, Nancy, and her sister’s middle name, Leigh, and Adelaide is Heigl’s great-grandmother’s name.

Katherine Heigl previously told Parent & Child magazine that she had always planned to adopt children and that she and her husband talked about it before they were even engaged. She also revealed that she always planned to adopt before having biological children.

“My sister Meg is Korean, and my parents adopted her three years before I was born,” Katherine explained. “I wanted my own family to resemble the one I came from, so I always knew I wanted to adopt from Korea. We have talked about having biological children as well, but we decided to adopt first.”

After Katherine and Josh adopted Naleigh, the actress told Redbook that she wasn’t ruling out adopting again.

“We still talk about having biological children as well,” Katherine said. “I’m not ruling anything out. But my feeling about adoption is, Why not? There’s nothing about it that makes it any less meaningful of a relationship in my mind. My husband and I wanted to have a baby, and to us it didn’t matter how it happened. Adoption has been a part of my life and a part of my family, so it was how I wanted to start. It felt natural and right to me.”

In the same interview, Katherine talked about the downside of overextending herself with motherhood and her career, admitting that it’s not good fro ehr or her family.

“If I spread myself too thin, I’m not a good actor, I’m not a good mother, and I’m just really high-strung-—and everybody hates me,” Heigl said.

With her third baby on the way, fans hope Katherine Heigl won’t be spreading herself too thin this time around. Heigl’s baby news comes on the heels of the announcement that her legal drama, Doubt, has been given a series order by CBS. According to TV Line, Katherine will star as Sadie Ellis, a successful defense lawyer at a boutique firm who falls for a client accused of a brutal crime.
