Jennifer Lopez has been known for her curves and voluptuous physique from the time she came on the scene two decades ago. Although fans praise her for her figure, Jen admits that she hasn’t always been secure in her own skin. The triple threat star shares that even though she has always been admired for her form, just like many young girls, she felt as though she was always comparing herself to other girls and feeling the need to be thin.

In a recent interview with Dare magazine, Lopez shared the advice she would give her teen self if she was given the opportunity. Entertainment Tonight shares Jen’s words on the subject.
“Love yourself! Stop spending so much time worrying about what others think about you,Because when you love yourself and you’re happy, that’s reflected in your whole body, and that’s what makes you truly beautiful. And always use a good moisturizer!”
Additionally, Jen spoke of the way she used to view herself during her tricky teen years, which can be unforgiving to so many young women. The Daily Mail notes how the star reminisced about her insecurities.
“I remember thinking I wasn’t thin enough because I had curves.”
The now 46-year-old superstar is clearly more comfortable with her curves but shares that she still has days where she feels insecurities creeping in. What does this talent do to shake off her body-image blues? Dance, of course!
“When my confidence is lagging, I dance. There’s something about seeing what my body is capable of and feeling the endorphin rush that comes with a good dance session that really helps boost my mood. I still consider myself a dancer at heart, and I love it!”
In the end, Lopez reminds that beauty is all about the attitude we hold and the view we have about ourselves.
“Feeling beautiful is an attitude, and we should all look for the beautiful things we love about ourselves, regardless of how our bodies compare to someone else.”
The publication shares that the mother to twins Max and Emme, 8, also indicated that exercising to make her feel the best she can about her body is important for her confidence in her physique. Jen has always been a fit entertainer going all the way back to where she got her start as a Fly Girl on the early 90’s hit show In Living Color.
Her confidence has always stemmed from her dancing, and this confidence has inspired the star to become motivated to tackle a multitude of endeavors over the years. Lopez went from being primarily a dancer to an actress in the hit movie Selena, and then she broke into the music industry, within which she has had massive success. Her abilities across all platforms of entertainment, make her stand out among the rest. Her expertise in dance, vocals, and performance also landed her a long-running spot on the hit talent show American Idol.

Unfortunately, other superstars have demonstrated that they aren’t overly impressed with Jen’s accomplishments. Diva Mariah Carey has given Lopez shade on numerous occasions now, and the reason for such dismissive treatment is not entirely known. Perhaps Mariah is a bit jealous of the fact that Jen owns the stage with movement and vocals as opposed to just vocals.
As the Inquisitr recently reported, Carey most recently feigned forgetfulness not only about Lopez but about all of her fellow Vegas diva’s who have shows along with Carey on the strip.
“‘I don’t know any of them,’ Mariah told Kelly and guest co-host Jussie Smollett on the daytime talk show, once again uttering her infamous shady line. ‘I try to remember but I’m so forgetful,’ Carey continued, referencing Jennifer’s claims that she was ‘forgetful’ for claiming that she and Lopez had never met.”
