‘The Bachelorette’ Star Chad Johnson Tries To Defend His Villainous Behavior — ‘I’m Not Violent’

There’s a lot of guys coming from a lot of different backgrounds on this season of The Bachelorette. But out of all the guys competing for JoJo Fletcher’s heart, there can only be one villain. And that villain is shaping up to be none other than Chad Johnson.

According to E! News, the 28-year-old real estate agent has already become one of the most talked about guys on the reality show. Johnson is constantly eating, participates in unusual workouts, and makes mean yet funny comments about the other guys on the show, including the term “Care Bear.”

Chad’s behavior certainly has the disapproval of the other guys in the house, and they aren’t afraid to tell him exactly how they feel about him.

Entertainment Tonight reports that on last week’s episode of The Bachelorette, Chad was spotted getting into a confrontation with another contestant, Alex Woytkiw, who happens to be a 26-year-old Marine. Threats of violence could be heard after the two got into a heated exchange.

“Keep that up, you’re going to lose your damn teeth!” Chad yelled, saying that Alex “should be” afraid.

But the drama seems only to be rising as the promo for tonight’s episode makes it appear that things may have gone from threats to actual violence. Chad is seen in the video punching a door while another member of the house bleeds from their face.

In the midst of the violence going public, Chad took to Instagram to defend himself.

“I’m not violent,” Chad wrote below a picture of himself getting prepared for a solo date with Jojo. “But I will stand up for myself, being as I, like everyone else, do not like being harassed and bullied.”

Chad also talked about the “amazing connection” he has with JoJo in the post.

But how does The Bachelorette, JoJo Fletcher feel about all the drama taking place in the house? After all, Chad did earn a rose last week.

“I had no idea there was this much tension between Chad and the other guys,” JoJo wrote on her blog for People. “I knew there was some tension, of course, but I didn’t know there were threats of violence. I don’t feel great now seeing this. It’s all just so complicated. Chad is a complex guy with complex emotions.”

E! News reminds fans that he isn’t the only villain that has graced the show. Past villains include J.J. Lane, Courtney Robertson, and Juan Pablo Galavis, people who fans loved to hate.

Will JoJo end up loving or hating Chad Johnson? It may be too early to tell, but she did offer this about the former Marine-turned-luxury real estate agent.

“There’s a lot of drama there, there’s a lot that happens. There’s blood, there’s tears. People are going to have to make their own opinion about Chad because it’s certainly an interesting situation there.”

But JoJo later wrote in a blog post that even though he may mean well, he shouldn’t be threatening anyone. She also teased fans by calling tonight’s episode “the most dramatic episode in Bachelor history.”

And if the promo is a taste of what’s to come, then JoJo may be right.

Meanwhile, for those who think Chad is just a violent houseguest who JoJo will end up tossing out the front door, a quick reminder of Chad’s past reminds fans that there may be more to him than anger.

Last summer, Chad lost his mother to liver cancer. Chad said that he helped her live out her final years as comfortable as possible and surrounded by family.

“I still miss her every day,” Johnson said on Instagram. “She was my best friend and the person I told everything to.”

So fans, what do you think? Is Chad Johnson the next big villain of the franchise, or will he mellow out and win over JoJo’s heart on The Bachelorette? Comment below.
