Lovato and Valderrama’s break-up statement was officially released by both of them in a loving letter on social media. Wilmer and Demi each shared their joint statement on Instagram and Twitter letting their fans know they had called it quits.
“After almost 6 loving and wonderful years together, we have decided to end our relationship. This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends. We will always be supportive of one another. Thank you to everyone who has offered us kindness and support over the years. With only love, Wilmer & Demi.”
Even though Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama split, their break-up statement makes it pretty clear that the two still have a lot of love for each other. It was a heartfelt statement that was a nice change from the standard Hollywood break-up messages. Whether or not they actually wrote it themselves doesn’t matter, the sentiment seems real. That is just one reason why these two ending their relationship is sad news.
Although most celebrity couples choose to release the news of their break-up in an official capacity via a rep, Demi and Wilmer decided to use social media and release the statement together. It seems a little less scripted and a little more real since they did it that way. Using social media has its advantages and one is that sending a message as they did will make their fans feel closer than ever to them. It also makes it feel like they appreciate their fans and wanted to personally share the news with them.
The news that Wilmer Valderrama and Demi Lovato split comes just weeks after the two were seen together looking happy as ever at the Billboard music awards. A few days after that, the former couple were spotted having lunch together.
These two were definitely good at keeping any signs of trouble out of the public eye. In fact when Lovato appeared on Ellen recently, she joked with the talk show host about marrying her longtime love. Demi made it known that she wouldn’t mind having a ring on her finger and that she was not going anywhere. Perhaps the fact that they had been together for six years and she didn’t have a ring had something to do with Lovato and Valderrama going their separate ways.
Despite Demi Lovato and Wilmer Valderrama releasing a break-up statement announcing the two were splitting up, this is not the first time the couple has broken up. Last year the singer told Cosmopolitan magazine that the couple had actually broken up before when she had a relapse. They have obviously been though a lot, which could mean there is hope for reconciliation.
The news that 23-year-old Lovato and 36-year-old Valderrama have called it quits comes as quite a shock. Even though there was a 12-year age difference between the two, they certainly seemed like they belong together. Their love and admiration for each other was constantly documented on social media. Yes Demi and Wilmer definitely came across as one Hollywood couple that had serious staying power. This is one case of looks can be deceiving that is for sure.
