Barack Obama Warns ‘It Is Every Citizen’s Responsibility To Be Prepared For A Disaster’

Does President Barack Obama know something the general public doesn’t? The President says he is preparing Americans for hurricane season. However, Info Wars seems to be inferring there could be more to it. Either way, it is always good to be prepared for emergencies. The White House website records President Obama’s message.

“One of the things that we have learned over the course of the last seven and a half years is that government plays a vital role, but it is every citizen’s responsibility to be prepared for a disaster. And that means taking proactive steps, like having an evacuation plan, having a fully stocked disaster supply kit. If your local authorities ask you to evacuate, you have to do it. Don’t wait.”

President Barack Obama’s warnings seem to focus on evacuation and heading for a FEMA camp. That is something a true preparedness expert would simply shudder at the idea of. Info Wars writers make it plain that isn’t the direction they or other preppers would choose.

“One more thing that I found particularly noteworthy about Obama’s speech was that he said that there is now ‘a FEMA app’ that can direct you to the nearest ‘FEMA shelter’ in the event of a major emergency. Could you envision yourself and your family having to take refuge in a ‘FEMA shelter’ someday? If not, you should do what you can to get prepared now.”

Still, President Barack Obama’s words about readiness for prompt evacuation, no matter where the family is going, are solid information most preppers would agree with. If the situation might merit evacuation, residents must decide quickly and be among the first to go. Roads clog, cars overheat, and time runs out, so get a head start by being ready to leave at the first signs of trouble. It isn’t selfish. It actually helps those who wait by getting as much traffic as possible out of the way quickly. Prepared families have a bug out bag for each family member, ready to go with at least three days worth of supplies, food, clothes, water, first aid kit, and medications in a backpack. More water storage should be ready to shove into the car quickly and emergency food as well. Emergency shelters, such as small tents and basic hand tools, are also a good idea.

President Obama’s main point is to have everything ready to go so that no packing is necessary. Grab the bug out bags and additional food and water storage and just go quickly. Good preppers are sure to keep their supplies fresh.

Barack Obama goes on to explain where to find basic information.

“If you need information about how to put together an evacuation plan, how to put together a disaster preparedness kit… we’ve got an app for everything now. We have a FEMA app in English and in Spanish to help you prepare your family for a disaster. You can update the National Weather Service alerts. You can get safety tips for more than 20 kinds of hazards. It provides you directions to nearby shelters.”

President Barack Obama’s emergency plans are for short-term emergencies with relief coming in a few days, less than a week in general. While the government recommends families have supplies for at least three days, most preparedness experts are thinking far beyond that. Sustainability is now considered preparedness, with off-the-grid solar capable hideouts, aqua-phonics greenhouses, and gardening setups. Sustainable small animal farming, fallout shelters similar to their cold war counterparts, and years worth of stored supplies are also among prepper plans.

Being prepared is about more than weather disasters and evacuation plans. It could include seed banks, gardening, and plans to stay in place. For instance, in the event of a pandemic, or biological weapons attack, leaving could be a bad idea. Having the facilities to stay at home for months might be far better in that situation.

The President repeatedly stresses the need to act now and be ready at any time. Don’t wait to get ready for a variety of emergencies.

“So I would encourage every American, no matter where you live, to stay vigilant, to check Ready.gov — I will repeat that — that is Ready.gov — check that regularly to make sure your family is prepared for severe weather.”

President Obama wants people to learn the basics from Ready.gov but he certainly would not mind if citizens studied further. YouTube is a great resource because it conveys larger concepts quickly and visually. There are also numerous articles online.

Neither Barack Obama nor any preparedness expert is about to limit the number of possible disasters. No one knows the future. Preparing a family or community for the idea that something could go wrong might be the best preparation at all. Even children need to know that nothing is guaranteed and things do change. There could be a day when the family’s daily routine could drastically change, at least for a while. The more one can reduce the shock of that day with solid preparation the better.

“It just takes one big disaster for us to really see some severe impacts. What we’re always worried about are the things we don’t know, things we can’t anticipate, things that we haven’t seen before. And that is why it’s so important to make sure that every American, every family participate actively in getting prepared. And if we do that, then we’re going to have the kind of resilience that we’re all looking for.”

Is President Barack Obama trying to prepare Americans for a terrorist threat? Is he concerned about major earth changes due to global warming? Could he be hinting at an economic collapse? No one knows what might happen including the president, but it is foolish not to be ready.
