‘The Flash’ Star Carlos Valdes Discusses ‘Flashpoint Paradox,’ Season 3, And Stan Lee Discusses Marvel Vs. DC Movie

The Flash Season 2 is over, and it has left a relatively positive feeling for The Flash fans. The Flash Season 2 finale has agitated some, but has excited most for its devotion to pulling from the DC Comic book storyline Flashpoint Paradox. This has left many fans wondering whether to expect a Paradox plot for Season 3. The Flash actor Carlos Valdes pretty much confirmed the Flashpoint Paradox, as Comicbook reports.

“I think there’s every chance of a Flashpoint paradox. Some people expressed reservation about that — why are we going there? — but then some people were all about it. I think I can say this without a doubt: wherever we go from here, it’s going to be unique and it’s going to be different and it’s going to honor the original chronology and the original lore while at the same time, writing a new spin on it. I think it’s that spirit that’s allowed our shows to do as well as they do, so I ask the fandom to have faith.”

The Flash Season 2 finale ended with Barry taking his father’s death at the hands of Zoom so badly that he chose to reverse his Season 1 decision, and save his mother. The DC Comics series arc in The Flash comic book, as aforementioned above by Carlos Valdes, all started because Barry Allen chose to save his mother instead of letting her death at the hands of Reverse-Flash transpire as well.

The CW show has consistently been faithful to the comic book it came from, so the Flashpoint Paradox storyline is likely coming in The Flash Season 3, one way or another.

Valdes also touched on a few other things coming up in Season 3, though he was admittedly very vague in his explanation.

“All I’m going to tell you is things are going to be different, way different. Not in a bad way; I think in a really exciting way, and it’s that difference that’s going to inform Barry’s trajectory throughout the season, and I think people are going to like it.”

This further advances the narrative of the Flashpoint Paradox being a part of the Season 3 plot, but some of what transpires in the DC Comic book will likely not show up in the DCTV Universe.

The Flashpoint Paradox affected the entire DC Comics universe, and most notably changed the identity of Batman, put Wonder Woman and Aquaman at war with each other, and some unusual versions of villains were also born from the event.

With DC Comics using a different formula than Marvel, like the fact that TV and movie universes do not connect, it will be interesting to see what characters can be included. Amanda Waller and Deadshot had to be killed off because of the Suicide Squad film, and Deathstroke has only had a brief appearance since Arrow Season 3 for similar reasons.

Granted, they are Arrow and not The Flash characters, but the DC Cinematic Universe incorporates both.

Speaking of Marvel and DC Comics, Stan Lee would love to see a Marvel Vs. DC Comics film, according to Comicbook.

“Well, you know, that would really be terrific. We did a Spider-Man vs. Superman comic book years ago — a big, giant-sized book which sold really well, and I had Spider-Man win. I don’t think there will ever be a movie like that only because of the lawyers and the businessmen and the contracts. They’d never be able to figure out who gets what and whose name comes first…but if they ever could do it, man, I think everybody would want to see that.”

The lawyers, legal paper work, and about a hundred other issues will likely make sure that never happens, but comic book fans can dream, right?

The Flash Season 2 finale has likely set up a whole new present day for Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and now Supergirl. Then again, maybe it will only affect The Flash. Although, many Arrow fans may beg for a time-altered Arrow after the CW show’s fourth season.

Either way, it looks to be one exciting ride for one, or several, DCTV Universe TV shows this fall.
