As reported by NBC, Fallon is inviting dads to create videos displaying themselves rapping a version of a song written by Tariq Trotter of The Roots. Tariq is often seen on the show creating original raps after gleaning only a few facts from audience members about their own lives.

With the explanation videos having been uploaded to YouTube on May 27, the dad rap video opportunity is gaining attention and views for the videos. Fallon explained that he didn’t want the dads to rap along with the below sample video showing Tariq’s original rap song. Instead, Jimmy wants dads to learn the lyrics to the song and then record a segment of themselves rapping the original lyrics — without Tariq’s voice in the background.

That’s why they included the lyric video to rap along to, as seen below.

Those dads who have the fortune of having their video segment chosen will show up in the edited version of the video that ends up appearing on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Fallon encouraged dads to get creative and crazy in their videos, and to use any kind of props or outfits they wanted to employ in order to make the videos good and interesting. The directions explain that dads can be a part of the video that shows appreciation for fathers on Father’s Day, if they follow certain rules set forth by Fallon.

The instructions also say that those who want their video found should include the title “Tonight Show Dad Rap.” That way, the show’s producers can find all the videos with that title and decide if they want to edit them to appear in the final video.

It isn’t the first time the show has called for video content from viewers to be used in compilation videos. The video for dads can be uploaded to YouTube or by using The Tonight Show App. Either way, the title of “Tonight Show Dad Rap” should be used.

The lyrics to the song for dads proves that they were written from the perspective of a man who wants great gifts for Father’s Day, and wants forgiveness for any minor oversights as a man. Overall, the song shows that dads want love and peace and quiet.

“It’s bout time to show some love to who you call daddy
You see me out there on the course playing golf badly
Doing my daddy dance, in saggy pants as pops
I’m known for wearing my short shorts and black socks
With sandals, beer belly, love handles.
Who’s dear old dad? I’ll give a few examples
Look, I’m telling real important stories but nobody’s listenin’
My main interests are football, bowlin’ and fishin’
In the summertime, I never care what you’ll are doing.
Pardon me for showing plumbers crack, I’m barbecuin’
Or hiding out in the bathroom on the iPad
I say, ‘I missed you kids,’ all I get is, ‘Hi Dad.’
My New Balance are gray. I might casually say:
‘I’d be a star if I didn’t throw my talents away.’
But overall I’m your father so show me some respect
And with my fathers day gift, you better come correct
I feel like peace and quiet’s better than another tie
You say you love me, okay fine, I love you too. Good-bye.”
