WWE News: WWE Superstar Kevin Owens Penciled In To Win Money In The Bank Ladder Match

If there is one person that has absolutely shined over the past year, it’s certainly WWE Superstar Kevin Owens. He may not care for your love – and might very well insult you for trying to praise him on social media – and he is surely one of the bright spots for WWE. When everyone seemed to drop to injury, Owens stayed healthy and managed to step up his game in the absence of stars like John Cena and Seth Rollins.

Interestingly, for a time in this past year, he was the top full-time heel. When Rollins went down to injury last fall, Owens was the only one left that made any sense for the role and WWE treated him well for a time. They gave him two reigns with the WWE Intercontinental Championship, and another could come in the near future. However, one thing is for sure, Kevin Owens is a star. Everyone knew it the moment he worked his first match on NXT.

Those who knew him as Kevin Steen before he entered WWE would tell you that he has been great for years and should have been signed a long time ago. Regardless, WWE now sees the genius that is Kevin Owens and it looks like they may start pushing him a bit. The Inquisitr reported a little while back that WWE was considering a push for Owens, but to what extent was unknown at the time. Now, it appears that the push revolves around the Money in the Bank briefcase.

According to Cageside Seats, the early favorite to win the Money in the Bank ladder match is Kevin Owens. Interestingly, he would have competed in three ladder matches in the span of a year. He was in a ladder match at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn for his NXT Title rematch against Finn Balor then again to defend his IC Title at WrestleMania 32 in a multi-man ladder match. Now he’s in yet another multi-man ladder match, but this time he very well could walk out the winner… unlike the last two matches.

With people like Cesaro, Dean Ambrose, and others in the match… some believe that WWE could do a complete 180 and give it someone we least expect – like a Sami Zayn, for instance. The company may just feel like another person fits better even. It should go without saying that the WWE Draft will shift things around a lot. There is a need for the company to create more stars. They clearly have a hot heel in Kevin Owens, whom the fans absolutely love seeing.

They would be stupid to not give him the case. However, the fact is that there are other men in the match that the fans would love to see win. The MITB case is an almost guaranteed shot for someone to win a WWE World Title. It has only failed twice, and in both matches, the champion was relatively fresh. Someone like Owens would never cash in like that, as heels often cash in when the champion is the most vulnerable.

Babyfaces have been known to do the same, as both cash-ins from CM Punk were face cash-ins, but done on hurt champions. Mostly, heels have cashed in like this. John Cena and RVD, both babyfaces, cashed in to get a match and not when the champion was down and out. Cena lost where RVD won, proving that the theory of doing a cash-in with the champion knowing prior to the title match is currently standing at 50 percent success rate.

We can probably expect someone out of the new generation of talent involved in the match to actually win it. While it is up in the air for most, it does seem like WWE is leaning toward Kevin Owens. With WWE, plans can change sometimes minutes before a match occurs. However, we can probably go ahead and pencil in Kevin Owens for the MITB win as of now. Let’s hope he doesn’t do anything to lose such an honor.
