Just when we think that it could only happen to Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez had the same emotional moment during her Montreal concert on Thursday, May 26. Selena broke down on stage, overcome with tears while singing her 2011 hit song “Who Says.” Although she tried to get back on track with the song, emotions so completely took over that her loyal fans had to finish the song for her, according to Us Weekly Magazine.
“Always the same old love from her fans! Selena Gomez choked up and cried during the Montreal stop of her Revival Tour on Thursday, May 26 because she was so moved by her dedicated Selenators.”
ET Online has been able to capture Selena’s emotional moment on video and reports the following.
“Gomez is known for putting her heart into her music and her performances. When she released her Justin Bieber-inspired song ‘The Heart Wants What It Wants’ in late 2014, the emotional singer cried in the tune’s music video and in several subsequent performances.”
“During a concert at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Arena on Saturday, May 7,” reported Us Weekly Magazine, Justin Bieber cried like a baby in the middle of his rendition of “Purpose.”
“Bieber sits on the ground near the front of the stage, closes his eyes and starts crying as he belts out the lyrics, which are said to be about his newfound relationship with God. By the end of the ballad, the 22-year-old pop superstar, who is wearing a bandana tied around his head, completely breaks down with tears running down his face. The screaming Beliebers even try to comfort the chart-topper and let him know the fans are always there for him.”
It’s easy to understand why singers break down on stage in the middle of their performances. Performers like Justin Bieber or Selena Gomez are dealing with raw emotions when belting out their tunes and hence, they can easily get carried away. The deeper they are in their emotional attachment to the song, the harder they fall into an emotional abyss. After all, songs are all about emotions. No wonder music is considered a universal language because it can easily communicate feelings to any person regardless of language, race or creed.
At the same time, there are extraneous factors that can hasten the emotional breakdown of any person, and not necessarily just artists like Selena Gomez. In the case of Selena on that fateful Thursday night, the factors at play could well be job stress and sheer exhaustion. After all, she just had another concert performance the night before. This was in Toronto on Wednesday, and before a jam-packed audience at that.
Mind you, the Wednesday concert was not originally a part of Selena’s schedule. She had to accommodate a change made by venue organizers. The change would pit Selena Gomez against Beyoncé, who just happened to be performing in Toronto on the same night.

So you could just imagine the toll that all these extraneous factors took on the part of the singer. Although Selena doesn’t talk about these matters, these are a matter of fact. Another fact is that Selena Gomez is still suffering from lupus, a non-communicable and incurable disease that attacks her immune system. Selena has assured her loyal fans that she is taking care of her condition, which means that she has a plan in place to deal with her illness.
If we are to go along with Selena’s pronouncements, her ailment should not interfere with her performances. But then, who knows exactly what can happen? Considering all the factors, Selena Gomez is definitely giving her body and soul to her Revival concert tour. The music artist is giving so much more than what her loyal fans can ask for.
And so here are some words of caution. We know for a fact that Selena Gomez is not a machine. So no matter how tough she is, sooner or later, something has got to give. It may be far-fetched at this point, but someone on her team should probably be watching her physical, health, and emotional states more closely. After all, we don’t want any serious or untoward incident happening.
In comparison, we don’t need to worry too much about Justin Bieber going through his concert series. After all, we are not aware of any serious medical condition on the part of the superstar. As for Selena Gomez, she barely started her Revival concert series and we all want her to finish what she started. We believe that she still has so much to give to the world.
