Max Kessler Is Real? Adam Sandler Invites Doppelganger To Red Carpet Premiere Of ‘The Do-Over,’ Possibly Earns A Fan For Life

Max Kessler is more than just a character from The Do-Over. He’s Adam Sandler’s doppelganger, and after an exchange between the two on Reddit, he was invited to the red carpet premiere of the Netflix movie.

It’s unknown if Sandler actually knew about the real Max Kessler when he was working on the upcoming film, but the coincidence is uncanny. Adam Sandler may have earned a friend for life just by being nice enough to share the spotlight with a fan. Sometimes an actor who is so generally despised for his films is actually a nice guy.

Adam Sandler was once a loved comedian, known for his Saturday Night Live sketches as an opera singer and songs he made up about random topics such as the school cafeteria lunch lady and Hanukkah. After Happy Gilmore, he seemed to slip into an ongoing trend of perpetual low-brow humor and critical hate. After too many films like Little Nicky and Grown-Ups, he appears to be taking to Netflix to repair his reputation as an actor.

His Netflix debut with The Ridiculous 6 didn’t help, bringing back all of the sophomoric humor the critics now hate him for. Sandler isn’t giving up, though. His next film is about two men who fake their own deaths and live it up with new identities. It’s unknown how successful it will be, but this was about the time that the real Kessler connected with the star playing a character with his name.

Kessler posted a split image of himself with Adam Sandler to Reddit saying, “The name of Adam Sandler’s character in his new movie, The Do-Over is Max Kessler. My name is Max Kessler. Oh yeah, and I look just like him.”

Instead of taking it as a legal challenge, Sandler put his celebrity status aside with his response, posting a funny face and asking Kessler if he could do that. This got the two chatting back and forth, and eventually Sandler posted another image of himself holding up a sign, inviting the real Kessler to the premiere of The Do-Over.

“Ok! You can come party with the better Max Kessler at the Do-Over premiere on May 16! Rock ‘n Roll!”

As the old saying goes, this could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. The origins of this phrase go back to the classic film Casablanca.

That fact aside, when Adam Sandler and his doppelganger met on the red carpet, they were instant friends. Sandler called Max Kessler a “younger, sweeter, better version of me. He’s a good kid. He’s funny as hell and I was happy to meet him.”

Kessler returned the sentiment, “When I actually shook his hand, or greeted him, he was just as I expected, very down-to-earth, funny.”

The two even joked that they are now best friends. Could this lead to a future movie role for the real Kessler, where he plays Sandler’s twin or possibly his son? While some may be hoping Adam Sandler just gives up and stops making movies, Kessler could breathe some fresh air into the industry as a newcomer.

The meeting of Adam Sandler and his doppelganger could have gone so wrong, with lawsuits or just one of them not having any sense of humor. For the real Max Kessler, it was the chance of a lifetime.
