Kathryn Smith: Mom Who Brutally Murdered Toddler Daughter Gets Massive Dose Of Karma From Inmates In Prison

A British mother behind bars for the brutal murder of her 21-month-old daughter recently received a massive dose of karma. Apparently, inmates felt her 24-year prison sentence just wasn’t enough, so they decided to take matters into their own hands. Now, the beating she received behind bars is making headlines across the world.

According to Opposing Views, Kathryn Smith was brutally attacked at Foston Hall’s women’s prison over the past week. It has been reported that the convicted mother was cornered in a stairwell inside the prison by two inmates.

There was no surveillance footage available because the strategically planned attack occurred on a stairwell where no surveillance system is in place. During the four-minute attack, Kathryn Smith was punched and stabbed with a makeshift knife. She reportedly sustained a one-inch scar on her face as a result of being cut. Although she reportedly screamed in agony, that didn’t stop the inmates’ brutal attack, as approximately 10 other inmates stood around and watched, according to Mirror Online.

In fact, one inmate who witnessed the attack shared details about the series of events that led to the altercation and its outcome. During a news interview, the unnamed inmate revealed prison guards also had very little sympathy for Kathryn Smith.

“There had been a lot of talk about attacking Smith, but most people wouldn’t go through with it as they don’t want time added on to their sentences. But these two really went for it and left her in a bad way. No one had any sympathy for Smith. Some staff were saying, ‘What goes around comes around’.”

The brutal prison attack follows Kathryn Smith’s conviction for the brutal beating that contributed to her daughter’s death in May of 2014. According to Mirror Online, Kathryn’s daughter, Ayeeshia Smith, died at the age of 21 months after suffering relentless blows to the chest at the hands of her mother. Detailed investigative reports revealed the little girl was pronounced dead at a local hospital after she suffered a tear in her heart. The extensive trauma was a result of extremely forceful hits to the chest. It was also revealed that Ayeeshia was hit so hard she actually bit through her own tongue.

Just days before her death, neighbors reported that she’d been heard screaming, “Stop mummy, stop daddy.” But of course, no one could possibly fathom what would happen in the days that followed. However, her pediatrician Dr. Ward, also testified admitting that the “tumbles” her mom claimed she’d have were quite inconsistent compared to those children usually have. While there was no way to confirm whether the injuries were the result of abuse, Dr. Ward admitted the disturbing pattern was quite concerning.

“The concerning thing for me about Ayeeshia was that from the beginning of 2014, there appears to be a pattern of this child not just having the sort of tumbles that children of this age have but of having a pattern of injuries. While one can’t be clear as to whether these were definitely inflicted injuries or not, there was certainly a concerning pattern of a child presenting with significant injury.”

Back in April, Kathryn Smith was found guilty of murder and child cruelty. She was sentenced to 24 years in prison. Her boyfriend, Matthew Rigby, was also charged with causing or allowing the death. Although Rigby escaped murder and child cruelty charges because no evidence suggested that he committed the murder, his lack of effort to defuse the situation contributed to the charges he was found guilty of.
