‘Once Upon A Time’ Spoilers: Does The Death Of Robin Mean The Return Of The Evil Queen?

The Once Upon A Time Season 5 finale airs this Sunday night, and everyone is wondering how Regina will deal with the death of Robin. In the trailer released by ABC this week, the narrator gives us a hint at the darkness and evil that will be awakened.

“She lost the love of her life, reigniting a hatred so strong, there’s no telling what will happen next.”

Considering Henry’s proclamation in the Once Upon a Time finale trailer that he has “destroyed magic,” there really is no telling what will happen next. How will the townspeople react? How will our favorite Once Upon A Time characters deal with this tragedy and the resulting uncertainty without magic? In the trailer, the friendship between Regina and Emma also seems to be shaky as Emma fears that Regina will plunge into darkness and resume her identity as The Evil Queen. Will her fear become reality?

Entertainment Weekly spoke with Lana Parilla, who plays Once Upon A Time‘s Evil Queen, and they talked about what Parilla described as her character’s inner conflict. Will she regress back into the darkness? Should we be worried?

“It’s going to take more than just his death to cross back over to the dark side. However, we do know that she has been so conflicted over the years with these evil tendencies and impulses. That internal struggle will continue and definitely be poked at because of his death.”

ABC also released some screenshots from the Once Upon A Time Season 6 finale this week. Some of them show Emma and Regina in an apartment. A confused looking Regina is holding a piece of paper in one of those shots. What’s the significance of that paper to the final chapter of Once Upon A Time Season 6?

“I don’t want to tell you what that is, but you’ll see what that is. It’s the catalyst that opens the door for Regina to share all these feelings with Emma.”

Feelings that Parilla says we’ve never seen her Once Upon A Time character express before. She described it as follows.

“A nice moment between these two women where Regina takes the opportunity to share some fears and concerns that she’s never been able to voice before. She opens up in a way that we’ve never seen.”

Sunday night’s Once Upon A Time finale will last two hours and will actually be two episodes. One is titled “Only You,” and the second one is titled “An Untold Story.” ABC describes the plot of “Only You” as watching Regina’s grief that takes her and other Once Upon A Time characters down another path as they try to find Henry and stop him from destroying magic. At the same time, Zelena, Snow, David, and Hook try to find a way to get Storybrooke guests back home. It doesn’t go as planned, however, and they find themselves “in a deranged new world.”

The second, and final, Once Upon A Time episode that will air this Sunday night is a continuation both of the search for Henry and Regina’s inner struggle against the darkness within her. As for the other Once Upon A Time characters who landed in that deranged world? ABC describes it like this.

“Snow, David, Hook and Zelena are imprisoned and must contend with very two very disturbed individuals that may give Gold a run for his money.”

It sounds like the finale of Once Upon A Time Season 6 will have a lot going on. It’s sure to be a captivating two hours.

The Once Upon A Time finale begins Sunday night on ABC at 7 p.m. ET. Check out the trailer below.
