Florida Man Allegedly Beat Mom To Death On Mother’s Day

A Florida man has been arrested after he allegedly beat his own mother to death on a day when most mothers are honored with love, gifts, and thanks. The Dreamin’ Demon reports that 38-year-old Christopher Lynch has been charged with a variety of crimes associated with the violent demise of 54-year-old Cheryl Lynch.

The incident reportedly took place on Mother’s Day. Authorities in Pace, Florida arrived at the home inhabited by Cheryl and her 38-year-old son, who is an Army veteran suffering from the long-term effects of a brain injury. When they arrived at the residence, they were confronted by the 38-year-old Florida man, who was reportedly belligerent and covered in blood.He was also brandishing a hook-ended iron rod as a weapon.

Police claim he was being combative when he said, “You want some?” He also reportedly smashed the iron rod into their patrol car. Authorities had no other choice but to take the suspect down with a stun gun, which took multiple attempts. However, police allege that Lynch made sure to kick and punch them during their attempt at arresting him. It took multiple police officers to wrestle him down and cuff him.

Once they were able to wrangle Lynch, they discovered his mother Cheryl on the front porch of the home. She was covered with blood and was barely able to speak. Her face was badly battered and bruised with both of her eyes swollen shut. It was evident that the Florida woman had been violently beaten. She was able to tell police officers that her son had attacked her, but she was unable to remember why the incident had even taken place. Unfortunately, she passed away in the hospital the following day, succumbing to the injuries she suffered during the violent beating.

News 11 reports that Christopher Reed Lynch suffered a traumatic brain injury while training with the U.S. Army in the year 2000. Ever since that time, he has been under the care of his mother. In 2010 the woman had even written of her fears in a letter to the House Committee on Veteran’s Affairs, worrying about how her son would survive if she weren’t to live long enough to take care of him throughout his natural life.

Sadly, this isn’t the only bad news coming out of Florida in recent media headlines. In fact, as usual, the #FloridaMan hashtag on social media continues to trend with up-to-the-minute stories and conversation about the downright strange and violent stories that come out of the Sunshine State. Most recently, a man who had been cleaning his gun accidentally shot himself. However, he didn’t even realize he had shot himself until around three days later.

It’s also not entirely uncommon for horrifying crimes to take place on Mother’s Day and other important holidays. In 2012, an Irish man was found guilty in the 2008 rape of his own mother. The shocking rape of his mother also happened to take place on Mother’s Day of all days. The unnamed suspect was found guilty of both rape and incest.

As for this latest case out of Florida, Christopher Lynch is currently being held in the Santa Rosa County Jail without bond. He has been charged with felonies of first degree murder, second degree aggravated battery, and third degree battery. He has also been charged with battery in association with the alleged attack on the officers and their cruiser.
