‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6 Spoilers — Another Shocking Return For A Long-Lost Character In Episode 3

Season 6 of Game of Thrones has already offered fans plenty of things to be happy about. Not only is Jon Snow (Kit Harington) back from the dead, but it appears as though things are looking good for the rest of the Stark children. With the majority of the season still ahead, fans are in for even more surprises, including a shocking return of a former character.

According to iO9, many fans suspect that Sandor Clegane, also known as the Hound, will eventually make his way back on the show. While the Hound’s fate is still unknown, Maisie Williams recently confirmed that Rickon Stark (Art Parkinson) will return this season.

As fans will recall, Rickon is the youngest in the Stark family and was presumed dead after Theon Greyjoy sacked Winterfell. However, the bodies Theon claimed were Rickon and Bran were actually two random farm boys. Fans have not seen Rickon since back in Season 3, and it will be interesting to see what has become of him.

While Rickon may have been living a wonderful life since we last saw him, chances are that he has struggled like the rest of the Stark kids. According to Metro, Rickon’s fate in the books is much harsher than what has played out in the television series.

In the books, Rickon was carted off to live on a cannibal island in Skagos. While it isn’t known if he suffered the same fate on the show, Metro is reporting that Williams was fairly definitive that he will be back this season.

“Yes, we will indeed… Oh no, I’m literally going to get off the air and someone’s going to email me!” Williams stated in the interview.

Although it isn’t known what Rickon has been up to all this time, there is a good chance that his role will increase in importance. According to Time, this season of Game of Thrones is a significant one for the remaining Starks.

Not only is Jon alive and well, but Bran is starting to find his place with the Three-Eyed Raven’s help. Furthermore, Sansa has finally escaped from Ramsay Bolton and has linked up with Brienne of Tarth. With the Boltons controlling the North and Winterfell, the Starks are going to need all the help they can get to take back their throne.

Rickon’s support will definitely help the Starks regain their home, especially considering how he still has his direwolf, Shaggy Dog. At the same time, Rickon was supposed to be taken to the House of Umber and the Last Hearth. If he successfully made it to House Umber, then there is a good chance that the Starks will have a reliable ally when they go to war with the Boltons.

The war in the North between the Boltons and the Starks is expected to be a main storyline this season. With the White Walkers threatening the northern wall and the rest of Westeros, the north will need to be united in order to take out the threat.

Meanwhile, Rickon is not the only character who has been seemingly lost in the mix over the past six seasons. In fact, fans still don’t have any idea what happened to Benjen Stark, Gentry (who happens to be a rightful heir to the iron throne), and Beric Dondarrion.

Although the fate of these characters will likely remain unsolved this season, at least the mystery of what happened to Rickon will finally be solved. Whether or not Rickon manages to survive throughout the end of the season, however, is still unknown.

The sixth season of Game of Thrones airs Sunday nights on HBO.
