Lou Holtz Joins Growing List Of Donald Trump Supporters, Likes That He Is Not Politically Correct

Donald Trump seems to be getting into the good graces of a few legendary coaches lately. His endorsement list is growing little by little. The latest news is that former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz has officially announced that the Republican candidate will be getting his vote in the upcoming election.

In a short video posted to Twitter on Monday, the 79-year-old legend confirmed his support for Trump. He went on to say that because the real estate mogul likes everything to be first class, Donald wants America to be first class as well.

“There are nothing but winners in Indiana. The main reason I’m endorsing him: I have played his golf course and stayed in his hotel. He does nothing but go first class on everything. He wants his country to be first class as well.”

It sounds like he is saying that everything Donald Trump touches turns into gold. At least that is what the presidential hopeful thinks. It is true that his golf courses and hotels are wonderful places to visit, but is that enough to have him sit in the White House making decisions for this country? Lou Holtz thinks he is the man for the job.

The Indiana coach explained to Fox Business why he is backing Trump. He thinks that this is a good time to have an outsider come in to help with the struggling economy and the budget.

“Our economy is struggling a little bit — don’t tell me about the unemployment rate… when we have less people working today than we did 40-years ago… and over the last 8 years we’ve doubled the budget… There was just a time for an outsider”

Holtz also told Fox & Friends that he is impressed by Donald Trump’s tendency to be politically incorrect, as reported by Breitbart News. By now, most of the U.S. knows that nothing is left unsaid when it comes to the former Celebrity Apprentice host. He does not seem to hold a set of rules as to what he says or how he says it. Lou Holtz mentioned that having to watch everything that is said is not what America is all about.

“The other thing is that political correctness is ruled in this country. I grew up where people bullied you and called you names, you learned to handle it. Now, everything is politically correct. People endear themselves to Donald Trump because he’s not [politically] correct.”

However, Lou does not agree with the way Trump puts people down as he has done for months. He said that belittling others is not how it should be done.

“I think you need to sell yourself but humility is not thinking of yourself. Humility is thinking more of other people… I don’t agree with that but then again he’s the guy.”

Another Indiana coach, Bobby Knight, has also endorsed Trump, which may have given some leverage in the Hoosier state primaries on Tuesday. In his victory speech, Trump acknowledged Knight and thanked him for his support. Lou Holtz got some recognition as well, but it was on social media. He tweeted that he was honored to have Holtz behind him and called him a “great guy.”

While most celebrities are now threatening to move to Canada if Trump becomes president, other high-profile faces have stepped up to support him. Former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka had publicly announced in March that he is a big Trump supporter. In addition, athletes Mike Tyson and Dennis Rodman have stated that they are in Trump’s corner as well.
