Jessa Duggar Gets Emotional About Josh Duggar Scandals, Revealing They Changed Her Marriage [Video]

Jessa Duggar is sure that if there’s one bit of good that came out of the Josh Duggar scandals over the past year, it’s that they strengthened her marriage with her husband, Ben. In the most recent episode of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, Jessa dug deep into her emotions surrounding her brother Josh, and confessed that the difficult times changed her marriage.

Dealing with both the molestation scandals and the cheating revelations while pregnant, Jessa reveals in Jill & Jessa: Counting On that coming to terms with Josh Duggar’s problems “was very difficult and we cried a lot of tears.”

Jessa admits that learning Josh cheated on his wife “felt like it was especially difficult for me because I had spoken out in defense of Josh and had stood up for him” while the world learned that he molested several girls when he was a teenager, Jessa included. Jessa is insistent she forgives Josh Duggar, adding that the molestation revelations were emotionally difficult and “it was just really difficult for us as a family to walk through that again… relive that.”

But after learning that her brother cheated on his his wife using the infidelity site Ashley Madison, Jessa wasn’t so sure about her relationship with Josh anymore. Jessa Duggar confesses that “there was a whole other wave of things that came through,” adding insult to injury.

Jessa isn’t the only Duggar working through the pain Josh caused them. Anna Duggar shares similar thoughts, telling her family that “daily, there’s going to be a lot of work and there kind of is a long process ahead… there are a lot of steps before it’s where it needs to be.”

If one good thing came out of the Josh Duggar scandals, however, it’s that they have strengthened Jessa’s relationship with Ben. In the finale of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, Jessa Duggar tells viewers that for her and her husband, the past year “even strengthened our resolve to be true to our wedding vows and to always keep our first love, which is God, and pursue that and then pursue each other 100 percent.”

“I feel like we as a couple even drew closer together through the difficulty,” Jessa concluded.

Her sister-in-law, Anna, shares similar sentiments, confessing to the rest of the Duggar sisters that although there’s a hard road ahead for her and Josh, they plan to “just kind of take it one day at a time and keep trusting God and doing the right thing.” Anna Duggar is optimistic about the future, adding that “there’s lots of hope for the future and a lot of excitement.”

The episode of Jill & Jessa: Counting On also shows happy times, including Spurgeon’s first visit to Central America to meet his cousin, Israel, as well as Jill and Derick Dillard for the first time! While there were some snafus packing, and Ben reveals he has no idea how many diapers Spurgeon goes through in a day, Duggar, her husband, and her son made it to Central America safely.

Revealing that “it was really exciting to get to see [Derick],” who picked them up at the airport, Jessa Duggar added Spurgeon did great on the flight, and mostly “slept on both flights a majority of the time.” The trip to see Jill marked the first time that Jill and Jessa have seen each other in person since the Dillard family started their mission work, and according to Duggar, “there was so much anticipation” to see her sister and her nephew again for the first time in months that the ride to the Dillard residence “seemed really long.”
