‘Big Bang Theory’ Star Kaley Cuoco Goes Back To Long Hair — With The Help Of Extensions

It was the haircut heard around the world: Kaley Cuoco’s blonde locks cut short into a pixie ‘do back in 2014. It was the first time Cuoco had cut her hair so dramatically as an adult, and it was a clear departure from the look everyone recognized as Penny from The Big Bang Theory. It just happened to coincide with Penny’s new job as a pharmaceutical sales rep, but Glamour reported the cut was actually for the independent flick Burning Bodhi that Cuoco filmed that summer.

Fans of the show might have noticed that her hair has gradually grown out into a loose bob, and Cuoco revealed some time ago her intention to go back to long hair. But now that Season 9 of The Big Bang Theory has finished filming, Kaley took a big step toward getting back her long locks: putting in extensions.

Cuoco put a few pics on Instagram as she sat in her stylist’s chair. She said she was going in the opposite direction this year — instead of going shorter, she’s going longer. She also posted a picture of a dynamic new blonde shade, offset by dark roots.

“It’s very important for me to change my look after wrapping each season ? I love playing Penny, but it’s good for me to bring it back to Kaley. Last year I chopped it all off — this year I’m doing the opposite. With the extension master @faye.woods.”

People Style Watch noted that Cuoco experimented with her short haircut, giving it a touch of pink on occasion — the magazine expressed hope Cuoco’s new extensions would be “equally as amazing” as the pixie ‘do.

Cuoco’s hair stylist Christine Symonds told Glamour in January that they worked hard to help Kaley grow out of her super-short cut while avoiding those “awkward” phases. In addition to using product that gave her a textured or messy look, there was some strategic snipping that happened as the locks grew longer.

“The trick to growing out Kaley’s pixie has been trimming the back of her hair every so often to let the front and sides catch up.”

With a few recent Instagram posts, Cuoco revealed the team at The Big Bang Theory finished filming this week. She posted a video of herself in the studio thanking fans for supporting the show. Her sister Briana Cuoco was also on-hand for the season finale shoot. The Big Bang Theory has been renewed for at least one more season, making it a full decade that Kaley Cuoco has brought Penny to life on the small screen.

After Kaley cut her hair for Bodhi, she offered to put in extensions for the new season of The Big Bang Theory. But the show decided to write the cut into the script, with Sheldon objecting to her new look during the Season 8 premiere. The plotline had Sheldon returning home after running away from a series of major changes at the end of Season 7, only to find Penny with a pixie cut.

Kaley Cuoco’s new look debuted in a blurry black and white picture on her Instagram, where she posed alongside Faye Woods, who created the style. With some loose waves, the hair falls just past Cuoco’s shoulders.

As Cuoco is getting back to her famous look, she’s also trying out a new romance. Although the couple has not officially confirmed they are an item, Cuoco has been getting cozy on social media with Karl Cook. Cook is a fellow equestrian — Cuoco is known for her love of horses and rides competitively in Los Angeles — and son of a software company executive.
