Jeremy Clarkson Shares Hilarious Pictures Of The ‘Top Gear’ Team In Their Youth

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May have become well-known figures in the past couple of decades, largely because of their work on the biggest motoring show on television, Top Gear. However, the main host of the show, Jeremy Clarkson, has shared a hilariously embarrassing throwback to the three stars in their youth.

According to the Mirror, Clarkson shared a montage of images of the three ex-Top Gear stars to his Twitter account. The image featured Clarkson himself at the top, with Richard Hammond in the middle and James May at the bottom, captioned with Jeremy Clarkson’s well-known hint of humor.

As far as embarrassing photographs from the past go, this is pretty bad. It remains to be seen exactly why Clarkson decided to share the images with his 6.12 million Twitter followers, but the image has already been retweeted over 11 thousand times, leading to further embarrassment for the trio.

As reported by Mashable, Richard Hammond later responded to Clarkson’s tweet, quoting it and telling followers, “What was Jeremy thinking? What was I thinking? What was James’ Mum thinking?”

The whole debacle was definitely reminiscent of what Top Gear viewers have come to expect of the trio. James May, on the other hand, has yet to respond to the tweet, but a similar reaction to that of Richard Hammond’s is to be expected.

Jeremy Clarkson and the two other stars are, of course, no longer hosts of the BBC’s motoring show. According to the Inquisitr, Jeremy Clarkson was let go from the show in March of last year, with Hammond and May shortly following. Afterwards, the BBC confirmed that the show would continue with a new team of hosts that include radio DJ and car enthusiast Chris Evans and Friends star Matt LeBlanc. At the same time, Amazon confirmed that they had picked up the original Top Gear trio, including Jeremy Clarkson, for a new and currently untitled motoring show to be streamed exclusively on their Amazon Prime Video streaming service.

The move to Amazon was undeniably a rapid change of pace for Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, leaving traditional broadcasting on the BBC after 13 years of hosting the corporation’s motoring show. That being said, both Clarkson and Amazon have been relatively tight-lipped around the motoring show since it was announced last year. The new motoring show still doesn’t have a name, which was the subject of a recent trailer featuring the trio.

The trailer opens with Jeremy Clarkson asking his co-hosts, “How long can we keep calling it, ‘Currently un-named TV show?'”

Following that, his hosts come up with a wealth of pretty useless name suggestions for the new show, and the clip closes with Clarkson and co still undecided on a name. The unnamed motoring show featuring Jeremy Clarkson and the two other ex-Top Gear hosts has been confirmed to be launching on Amazon’s streaming service later this year. Before then, Amazon is expected to make a formal announcement of the show’s name, along with further details around exactly what the new show will entail and how similar it will be to Clarkson’s Top Gear on the BBC.

For now, though, Jeremy Clarkson’s embarrassing 80s photographs of himself, Richard Hammond, and James May continues to circulate the internet, giving fans of Top Gear a glimpse into exactly what the three stars looked like before they joined the show and became television favorites. This is without a doubt one of Jeremy Clarkson’s finest Twitter moments.
