‘Game Of Thrones’: HBO Releases Final Teaser Trailer Ahead Of Season 6

Season 6 of HBO’s hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones is very nearly upon us. With less than a week until the return of Game of Thrones, HBO has released a final teaser trailer for the new season, promising that “the wait is over.” That being said, this is by no means another full trailer for the new season of Game of Thrones, but instead features an exciting montage of clips with the aim of getting fans excited for the highly anticipated new season of the show.

According to the Independent, the final teaser trailer for Game of Thrones Season 6 features flashes of various different scenes from across the show, some old and some new. Furthermore, the trailer is in part narrated by Peter Dinklage’s fan-favourite character Tyrion Lannister, as he says “Whoever you are, wherever you go, someone wants to murder you… Are you afraid?”

As reported by IGN, whilst the trailer might be short at only 30 seconds in length, it features imagery that provides us with a hint of what’s to come in the new season of Game of Thrones, including most notably a picture of Jon Snow’s corpse. As aforementioned, the new trailer is narrated by Peter Dinklage’s character, Tyrion Lannister and therefore quite predictably features footage of Lannister and Varys in the city of Meereen. However, their Khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke appears to be in a spot of trouble, as her character is spotted being taken prisoner by the Dothraki, but there’s still no hint of exactly where they’re taking her.

The trailer also gives no idea of where Sansa Stark is heading, but we do see her character, played by Sophie Turner now on the run, whilst her husband Ramsay Bolton, played by Iwan Rheon is now leading an army to war in search of his missing wife. It’s an action-packed trailer that also features flashes of the Lannister twins at it again, as Jamie Lannister, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, prepares to go to war with the High Sparrow, played by Jonathan Pryce. If this new teaser trailer alone is anything to go by, Season 6 of Game of Thrones looks to deal with the repercussions of many events that took place in the previous season of the show.

There has been a good deal of concern around exactly where Game of Thrones will head in Season 6 and whether plotlines will be as strong as previous seasons. That’s largely because this is the season that sees Game of Thrones as a TV series split off from George R.R. Martin’s book series, and with a number of differences between the TV and book plot planned, fans could be in for an altogether very different experience with this particular season of Game of Thrones.

With the new season of Game of Thrones now less than a week away, it appears that this will definitely be the last trailer we’ll see before the first episode of Season 6. Much like with previous trailers, the new teaser for this season of Game of Thrones was first released via HBO’s YouTube channel. However, the trailer will be more than likely screened across HBO’s network and online in the run-up to the new season premiere on April 24.

April 24 is undeniably going to be a huge day of programming for HBO. The evening will be headlined by the first episode in the new season of Game of Thrones, which will be followed by first episodes in the season of both Silicon Valley and Veep and, of course, no stranger to HBO’s Sunday night schedule, a new episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
