Rihanna’s ‘Fenty Beauty’ Collection Gets 2017 Release, Singer The Focus Of ‘Character Study’ Documentary

Since news of Rihanna’s make-up line was announced last year, her Navy (loyal global fans) has been anxiously awaiting further details about it – more specially, when the collection will be available to purchase? Well, the wait is over, as WWD.com reports that Fenty Beauty by Rihanna has an official release date!

Luxury brand LVMH reportedly paid the pop star $10 million to release the cosmetics line in the fall of 2017. Reveal.com notes that the LVMH umbrella includes “high-end brands such as Dior, Celine, Fendi, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton.” The deal won’t mark RiRi’s first venture into the beauty world, she previously collaborated with M.A.C to produce three special-edition makeup collections. Fenty Beauty by Rihanna will mainly be sold in Sephora stores.

“Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is a beauty rocket ship that will appeal to a huge and diverse global audience,” David Suliteanu, chief executive officer of the LVMH division Kendo, said when reflecting on the deal. Back in 2015, Rihanna confirmed news of her make-up line to Refinery29.com when they asked about the secret trademark she applied for in 2014.

“Oh wow, that’s crazy, how did you know that? That is definitely something I am going to have my hands on and would love to do,” Rihanna told Refinery 29. “It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do, but I’ve always had so much on my hands. But, this time, I’m going to make sure it happens. I’m going to find some time between albums and fragrance to do that. I promise.”

Ranked by Forbes as the fourth most powerful celebrity of 2012, and globally honored for her ever-evolving style and image, Rihanna received the Fashion Icon lifetime achievement award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2014. In addition to releasing seven perfumes with Parlux, the cultural icon announced this past March her partnership with Manolo Blahnik for an all denim shoe line. Last year, she kicked off a global, multi-year partnership with PUMA, serving as the global ambassador and Creative Director for women’s wear.

Bjørn Gulden, CEO at PUMA said of the partnership: “Signing Rihanna is a fantastic step for PUMA. Her global profile, her charisma and individuality, her ambition – all these things make her a perfect ambassador for our brand. She also aligns perfectly with the values PUMA strives for: to be Confident, Brave, Determined and Joyful. With a strong portfolio in football, running and motorsport, finding an inspiring partner for women’s training was very important. Rihanna was a natural choice for us. We’re delighted to have her as a partner, and we’re looking forward to what’s to come.”

Rihanna has won numerous awards and accolades, including eight Grammy Awards; eight American Music Awards; 23 Billboard Music Awards; two BRIT Awards; and was awarded the Icon Award at the American Music Awards of 2013. So is it any wonder that a documentary about her global domination is in the works?

The Bajan beauty, who is currently on a world tour, has teamed with Lone Survivor filmmaker Peter Berg to create a theatrical feature documentary about the her life, reports The Source. The documentary represents an “unfiltered look into Rihanna’s life and how she ascended to become a global icon,” according to Deadline.

The director says his Rihanna doc will take on a similar feel like that of the 1967 Bob Dylan rock doc Dont Look Back. Berg, who previously worked with Rihanna on his movie Battleship, said he “liked the idea of examining a young artist at the top of her professional field.” He also explained the project is “much more a character study than a music film.”

The title of the project is currently unknown, but no doubt Rihanna will have some serious creative input, including naming the documentary.

Meanwhile, did you know Rihanna has been helping a young, gay male fan come out of the closet? According to Buzzfeed, Ms. Fenty has been privately encouraging the fan who has been struggling with his sexuality. The two chatted for weeks until the young man was empowered enough to begin his coming out journey. The fan hopes to be fully out of the closet by July, when he plans on meeting his idol Rihanna for the first time during her Anti tour.

Rihanna and Drake are continuing their love fest on her Anti tour. After calling her “the real queen” at her tour stop in Miami, Drizzy Drake showered her with more praise at her concert in his hometown of Toronto on April 14. Do you think these two truly have the hots for each other, or is it purely entertainment (and business) for their fans? Sound off in the comments below.
