Things are not looking good for Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell. Although Bushnell agreed to marry Higgins during the Bachelor finale, his past feelings for JoJo Fletcher are still a source of contention. Will they be able to work through their problems in time to save their relationship?
It’s no secret that Bushnell had a hard time getting over Higgin’s love for Fletcher. According to OK! Magazine, even Bushnell’s move to Denver has not helped her get over the fact that Higgins admitted that he loved Fletcher. In fact, an inside source told the outlet that “she’s having an extremely hard time adjusting and has been full of anxiety.”
“She’s still having second thoughts about Ben,” the source continued. “It’s bringing the relationship down.”
As fans will recall, Higgins told both women that he loved them prior to picking Bushnell as his bride-to-be. Naturally, Bushnell had trouble coming to terms with Higgins’ feelings for the runner-up. However, she still went along with her plans to marry Higgins and recently made the move to his home in Denver, Colorado.
That being said, the Bit Bag is reporting that Bushnell’s attitude about her wedding has changed. Although she was originally excited to exchange vows with Higgins, Bushnell’s happiness has faded and it’s all because of Fletcher.
“[Lauren’s] no longer excited for the wedding because she thinks friends and family are still whispering about Ben being in love with JoJo. It’s ruining the marriage process for her,” a source revealed.
As far as Fletcher is concerned, she is currently in the middle of production for the new season of The Bachelorette. When speaking about his former lover’s role in the upcoming season, Us Magazine is reporting that Higgins did not express any regret for his actions towards Fletcher on The Bachelor. Instead, Higgins is happy for the time he shared with Fletcher.
“I’m excited for JoJo. I am. I think what we had was a great thing. Did I feel guilty for having those feelings for her? No. Do I feel guilty for exploring those feelings for her? No,” Higgins shared. “But now that she is the Bachelorette, she has the opportunity to find somebody like I found Lauren.”
Despite the reports of a future split, an insider told Yahoo TV that Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell are actually enjoying their new lives together. Apparently, the two are still planning their wedding and both of them have a desire to start a family.
“They are both so in love with each other and will definitely be one of the few couples to make it from the show,” the source revealed. “They both want a family, and it’s something that they talked about early on.”
An official wedding date has not been announced, although Higgins did tell E! Online that he wanted the ceremony to take place in 2016. Despite wanting to get married in the early part of the year, Higgins admitted that they don’t want to rush the process, which means fans might have to wait a little longer before the couple sets a solid date.
Of course, the wedding hinges on whether or not Higgins and Bushnell can work through their issues. So far, the two have moved forward with their lives and have been spotted on several dates in the Denver area.
Whether real or imagined, Fletcher remains a source of problems for the pair. While Fletcher gears up for the upcoming season of The Bachelorette, her time in the limelight might drag up old emotions for Higgins and Bushnell. In the end, only time will tell if Higgins and Bushnell can weather the storm.
