NBA Rumors: Boston Celtics Signing Kevin Durant, Al Horford, Others

NBA rumors have been swirling around the Boston Celtics. Danny Ainge has been looking to win another NBA Championship ever since Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray Allen. The Celtics have shown great improvement under Brad Stevens, playing tough defense and sound team basketball. Boston has shown that they can be a force in the Eastern Conference and the NBA. The Celtics have won the most NBA Championships and also have a history of great players. According to Bleacher Report, Al Horford and Kevin Durant will be targets.

For the Boston Celtics to sign Kevin Durant from the Oklahoma City Thunder would be epic. Danny Ainge would get the superstar he was looking for ever since the Big 3. The Celtics this upcoming summer will be very proactive in pursuit of a franchise player. Getting Durant will help push the Celtics into becoming one of the top teams in the National Basketball Association.

If Kevin Durant does end up leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team will need to replace their star player. The Thunder shouldn’t be too worried because they still have Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka. Westbrook showed that he can carry a team on his back when Durant was out with an injury. Oklahoma City will have plenty of cap space if Durant does leave to sign another player to try to fill in the missing void.

Another person the Boston Celtics should go after is Al Horford. The Atlanta Hawks center will be one of the most sought after centers in free agency. Earlier this season, Atlanta and Boston were discussing a deal that would bring Horford to the Celtics. The Celtics are in need of a true center, so Horford would have filled that void. Horford is a player who can spread the floor and pass the ball, and he is a very unselfish person.

The Atlanta Hawks will be in big trouble if they lose their starting center. Al Horford is a star and leader of the Hawks. Losing Horford would put the team in a very concerning state, and with little help in the low post. Atlanta would only have Paul Millsap and Tiago Splitter in their big man rotation.

If the Boston Celtics do manage to sign both Kevin Durant and Al Horford, that would make the Celtics one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. The team would also be considered as a favorite to win an NBA Championship. Boston already has a young, talented roster. With the addition of Horford and Durant, the team would be a force for the next several years. The Celtics have proven they can beat the Golden State Warriors, who are the reigning defending champions. So far, Boston has done all this without a bona fide superstar. Imagine what they can do with Durant and Horford.

Brad Stevens and the Boston Celtics will have plenty of lineup options to go with if they do end up signing Kevin Durant and Al Horford. The Celtics could go with a smaller lineup that most of today’s NBA teams are using. Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder, Kevin Durant, and Al Horford could very well be one of the best lineups in the NBA.

Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics will be looking to make a big splash this upcoming free agency. The Celtics have been looking to get back to the glory days. The signing of Kevin Durant and Al Horford should surely help them get to where they want to be. Of course, they will have to join the bidding war for two of the best players at their respective positions.
