Scarlett Johansson Allegedly Explains Ryan Reynolds Divorce
Scarlett Johansson allegedly opens up about her divorce with Ryan Reynolds. Was it the competitive nature of the relationship, or was it Johansson’s addiction to city life?
According to News-Australia, celebrity marriages can be difficult. At least, that’s what Scarlett Johansson says. Scarlett notes that “understanding” is key. No matter the goals of the couple, Johansson mentions that with celebrities things can get a little competitive.
According to the source, Scarlett mentions her thoughts as follows.
“The logistics of being with another actor is challenging. There has to be a real understanding of how you share your time, especially when two people’s careers are going at the same rate. Or even if one person is more successful than the other; that also proves challenging. There may be a competitive thing.”
According to E! Online, Scarlett Johansson, being an actress and entertainer, probably felt that by being in a relationship with another actor there would be mutual understanding about the sacrifices required to make the relationship work. Likewise, there has to be a certain level of commitment within that understanding.
For instance, Scarlett Johansson’s on-scene relationships take a great deal of rehearsal. That means Johansson would more-than-likely spend a significant portion of her time with co-workers than she would her husband. And if Scarlett and her spouse — in the past case of Ryan Reynolds — were both in the film industry and led different acting schedules, that would make things even more complicated.
Since Scarlett Johansson’s divorce to Ryan Reynolds, both celebrities have remarried. Reynolds is married to Blake Lively, while Johansson is married to Romain Dauriac, a French journalist. According to Scarlett, seemingly from her own past experience, things have a lesser chance of working out if she’s with someone in the film industry. In an interview with Parade, Johansson noted as follows.
“Acting is a very strange world to be co-existing in. It’s very volatile. There’s always going to be the more successful person. It’s related to rejection. Because actors, if they’re not having success, connect it directly to unpopularity—to the fact that nobody wants them. It’s not necessarily true. I’m constantly rejected.
“[Marriage] takes a lot of work. It takes a man who’s not only confident in the love that you have for one another, but confident in what he has going on in his own career. He has to be in a field that’s completely different from yours.”

So far, Scarlett Johansson seems to enjoy her new marriage to Romain. They’ve been married since 2014. And like normal couples, they tend to get into spats. However, at the end of the day, according to Scarlett, things work out fine.
Another commonality between the two, Scarlett Johansson says that they both grew up as “street rats.” By “street rats,” Johansson means that they’re familiar with the struggles of the inner-city. Specifically, Scarlett mentions the following.
“Being a New Yorker is a part of your personality, and he grew up in the heart of Paris. Just surviving the urban jungle is character building. It stays with you forever.”
This is potentially something that has caused issues in Johansson’s relationship with Ryan Reynolds. Generally, Scarlett enjoys the city life. She even wants to raise her daughter, Rose, in the “center of a big bustling city,” says News-Australia.

Johansson also mentioned that, even if she did move to the suburbs, she wouldn’t know how to handle it. After growing up in the city, suburban life just isn’t for Scarlett and her daughter. On the other hand, Ryan Reynolds and his wife have chosen to reside in Bedford, New York, which is definitely “suburban.”
As for the typical life of Scarlett Johansson and Romain, Scarlett told the source that her husband once had an invention idea, and he wanted to present it to Shark Tank. Johansson said that it was an app. Once he told Scarlett about it, she immediately shut it down. Accordingly, her husband was shocked.
