Drake To Announce ‘Views From The 6’ Release Date ‘And More’ On OVO Sound Radio Tonight

Drake has been keeping fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of his fourth studio album, Views From The 6, but it looks like the “Pop Style” rapper may be ready to make an announcement about his highly anticipated album during tonight’s episode of OVO Sound Radio.

Drake first confirmed an April release for Views From The 6 via OVO Sound Radio back in January, albeit noting that an official drop date for the project would be announced closer to the album’s anticipated release. With several reports that have surfaced claiming to have insight into the album’s official release date, it looks like Drake is ready to set the record straight with a special announcement during tonight’s episode of OVO Sound Radio via Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio show.

On Friday, Drake seemingly confirmed speculation suggesting that an announcement regarding Views From The 6 is on its way after he took to Instagram to like a screengrab of one of OVO Sound Radio’s tweets which reads, “#VIEWS album release date and more will be announced by @Drake tomorrow on OVO Sound Radio only on @Beats1.”

According to Hot New Hip Hop, Episode 19 of the radio program will feature October Firm, made up of Drake and OVO label co-founder Oliver-El Khatib, as hosts for tonight’s show and will also include a guest mix from one of Kanye West’s creative consultants, Virgil Abloh.

It’s also worth noting that the last time Drake hosted an episode of OVO Sound Radio, the rapper debuted Views’ lead single, “Summer Sixteen,” before confirming that his fourth album would be available sometime in April. Given Drake’s history of debuting new music via the label’s radio program, having previously debuted his joint mixtape with Future, What A Time To Be Alive, back in September 2015, fans have already begun speculating that Drake may also be planning to debut some new music off of Views From The 6 in honor of his hosting gig for tonight’s program.

While rumors continue to suggest that Drake is planning on dropping Views From The 6 next Saturday, April 16, as a nod to the rapper’s native area code in Toronto (416), new reports have recently surfaced suggesting that Drake’s album would be arriving closer to the end of the month.

Earlier this week, Pitchfork revealed that they were “informed” of Views From The 6‘s scheduled end-of-the-month release; however, neither Drake nor OVO Sound has confirmed those claims. The site further explains that the new images circulating on social media claiming to be the official cover art for Drake’s new album are not the official artwork, but rather a “reminder” that the album is on its way. The image in question appears to show the artwork from Drake’s “Summer Sixteen” track projected onto London’s Royal Opera House with a message suggesting that the album’s artwork will be projected in various cities around the world.

The news comes just days after Drake surprised fans with the release of two new singles, “Pop Style” featuring The Throne (a.k.a. Kanye West and Jay Z) and “One Dance” featuring Wizkid & Kyla, via iTunes on Tuesday. The dual-release follows a series of track leaks that have plagued the rapper since the beginning of April, including songs like “Faithful,” “Controlla,” and “These Days,” that have since been disappearing from various social media outlets due to copyright violations, Billboard reports.

Tune into tonight’s episode of OVO Sound Radio at 3 p.m. PST/6 p.m. EST on Beats 1 Radio via Apple Music to hear Drake’s reported update on Views From The 6‘s release.
