John Stamos Wasn’t Actually Mad About Netflix Prank Despite Video Showing Tantrum

John Stamos was at the center of not one, but two different April Fools’ Day pranks, both centering around a fake Netflix project. This was despite the fact one “leaked” video showed the Fuller House actor supposedly throwing a massive tantrum. It turns out Stamos was an excellent sport about a fake project the online video streaming service announced on Friday morning. The fake project was supposed to be a documentary looking into the life and times of John Stamos.

The film was billed as being a documentary “like no other,” and it claimed to be coming on April 31. The release date should have been the first clue to anyone who wondered why in the world John Stamos would get a documentary dedicated to him. For those who don’t have a calendar handy, there are only 30 days in the month of April. After people had begun questioning what in the world was wrong with Netflix, the website let it slip this was in fact, an elaborate prank.

After the admission by the site, a video surfaced (complete with some NSFW language should you watch it below) reportedly showing Stamos throwing a massive fit, exclaiming he had apparently been duped by Netflix, and he thought the documentary was indeed going to happen. This too should have been a clue something odd was going on, since it’s highly unlikely Stamos would have thought such a documentary was going to air despite the fact no footage had been shot and he’d never even been interviewed for John Stamos: A Human, Being.

Either because fans believe actors can be this dense, and this stuck up, rumors began flying about John Stamos truly losing his cool at the Netflix home office. Some people thought he was acting a bit immature, while others apparently felt as though John Stamos had been deeply wronged. Some Twitter users took to the social media site to voice their support for their favorite member of Full House and now Fuller House. This was after John Stamos took to Twitter himself and seemed to be genuinely hurt by his video making the rounds on the Internet.

Finally, it was time to spring the trap on the mother of all John Stamos-themed April Fools’ joke. It turns out John was actually in on every one of the jokes. Much like the documentary was a fake, so was the video showing he was angry when he found out the truth. The best part of the joke is the actor enlisted the help of a well-known news site to convince everyone he had been the butt of the joke instead of a part of it. People Magazine‘s website was the first to break the story about the video, and later, on Friday, they let it be known everything was a prank.

Truly Friday was a John Stamos centered April Fools’ Day. The documentary was only part of the trick. Netflix also changed the way their site was displayed, putting in a ton of different sections all leaning on John Stamos’ opinion on various movies and television shows. Fans of John Stamos have to be relieved because it turned out this wasn’t a prank that was being played on John Stamos, but turned out to be one that very explicitly involved the actor. Considering Stamos has managed to build himself quite a career in the last couple of years, it’s no wonder he was willing to do something like this. With Fuller House being the show that has fans of what is now a franchise glowing with excitement, it looks as though John Stamos has really managed to build himself a resurgence.
