Model Cara Delevingne has always been open about her life, and this time, she took to social media to post a series of tweets about her struggle with depression and her modeling career.

Earlier this year, the model-actress said that her life as a model was “fight and flight,” adding that she had constantly been on the edge for months. These statements were then interpreted by many people as her disdain for the modeling world.

She also said that it is a mental thing and that modeling did not give her a sense of fulfillment.

“It made me a bit hollow after a while. It did not make me grow at all as a human being.”

The openly gay model continued to explain that modeling made her forget how young she was.

Cara Delevingne also went on to say in another interview that she lost sight of herself and that she always needed validation from the people around her.

However, in these latest series of tweets, she revealed that she just took a break from the industry and will not quit her modeling career.

The confession about her depression took place a day before the release of her Saint Laurent campaign. She is now the new face of the luxury fashion company’s La Collection De Paris couture collection.

In the brand’s latest advertisement, the 23-year-old model looked stunning in the black and white photo. Many people were surprised that she did the advertisement, considering her previous statements, but she took to Twitter to clear the air.

She started her tweet by saying, “Can we just set the record straight,” then followed it up with “I never said I was quitting modeling. I do not blame the fashion industry or anything.”

She later added that she suffers from depression and that she was a model during a “particularly rough patch of self-hatred.”

The Paper Towns star continued to reveal that she is so lucky for the work she has. But she mentioned that she used to work just to escape from her problems, and she ended up exhausting herself.

It seems that her modeling break did her well, as she is now focusing on films and trying to “learn how not to pick apart my every flaw.”

She concluded her series of tweets by saying that she is really good at trying to better herself and said that her rant was over.

This is not the first time that Cara Delevingne modeled for Saint Laurent. Back in 2013, she starred in the first collection of creative director Hedi Slimane. The company also revealed Cara Delevingne’s images for their latest collection on their Twitter account. They noted that the photos were photographed last March 17 in New York City.

The 23-year-old stepped back from modeling, as she has been filming multiple movies such as Pan and the upcoming Suicide Squad.

Cara Delevingne started modeling when she was only 16-years-old. She was signed up by the same agent that launched the career of Kate Moss. She was also named model of the year at the British Fashion Awards back in 2012.

In 2014, she worked with and represented giant fashion companies such as Burberry, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, and Moschino.

Back in February, the model was rumored to be engaged to her girlfriend, St. Vincent. Reports say that she was spotted getting down on one knee while on top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. A witness claimed that the proposal was touching and that the model wants to do things traditionally.

The two have neither denied nor confirmed the engagement reports.
