‘The Vampire Diaries’ Sneak Peek: CW Shares ‘Days Of Future Past’ Clip

The CW shared a sneak peek clip of The Vampire Diaries‘ Episode 16, “Days of Future Past,” on Thursday. The new episode airs on Friday night, the first after a two-week hiatus.

The last The Vampire Diaries fans saw of their favorite characters, there was a three-year time jump taking place. Stefan was given the offer of transferring Rayna’s mark to his brother Damon, who is pumped full of werewolf venom and dying anyway. In the sneak peek scene, it appears Stefan has somehow escaped, knocking Damon out and injuring Rayna.

Sneak peeks do not often give much away for the overall episode, and this is certainly the case for this 85-second scene. It does give a hint of why Damon and Valerie are in a car together in the trailer for The Vampire Diaries episode. Stefan is on the move, and they need to get to him as soon as possible.

The main focus of the scene is on Rayna and how she views Damon. She has always said that he is the bad vampire out of the two Salvatore brothers; something they both tend to agree on. This is why she is willing to transfer the mark, but now she starts to see him in a different light. Damon is willing to call Stefan to make it clear that he needs to come back and accept the transfer. Rayna sees that as a noble move, something that surprises her. It will not surprise The Vampire Diaries fans, who know that Damon can sometimes do the right thing for the people he loves.

“Days of Future Past” is an episode that many people have been waiting for. Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon, has regularly shared that there will be an explosive moment and that characters will die – characters that fans love. It is questionable as to who these characters are, but most do not believe that it will be either of the Salvatore brothers, or even Caroline or Bonnie.

Most fans of The Vampire Diaries think one or more of the heretics will end up dead. If an explosion in a car is involved, it is possible that Valerie will be one of the upcoming deaths. This will devastate Stefan, as it seems that he and Valerie have decided to get back together three years in the future. Steroline fans still want to know why and how Caroline and Stefan parted ways, but Valerie’s death could explain why Stefan finally seems to agree in the trailer to switch the mark to his brother.

While the episodes are now set three years in the future, there will be “bridge backs” to show how the characters got to where they are now. Not all of the storylines have been shared or hinted at during the episode before the mini break.

Bamon fans will be disappointed to start in “Days of Future Past,” according to TV Guide. Bonnie is still angry at Damon for his decision to desiccate for 60 years. The Vampire Diaries fans had already seen the tearful not-quite-goodbye, as she told him what she really thought about him doing this; it would mean she would never see her best friend again. However, Damon is going to work his way back into Bonnie’s good graces. He will defend his actions, but he knows just how much he hurt her.

The Vampire Diaries returns on Friday April 1 at 8/7c on the CW network. It will be followed by the return of The Originals. For now, there are the trailers and sneak peek clips available from the network, with the latest one included at the top of this article.
