Andy Murray’s Dogs Wear His Medals In Pictures Posted To Twitter

Andy Murray’s dogs have stolen his Olympic medals, and the results are adorable.

One day after Murray won Olympic gold for his singles win over Roger Federer and then silver for a mixed doubles win with fellow Brit Laura Robson, the medals showed up on the necks of his two border terriers, Maggie May and Rusty. The pictures appeared on Maggie May’s Twitter page. Yes, Yahoo! Sports points out, his dog indeed does have a Twitter account.

“Here we go folks,” the accompanying tweet said, “just checking to make sure Rusty definitely has the silver, obviously.”

The picture of the medals hanging around the necks of Andy Murray’s dogs was actually tweeted by Murray’s girlfriend, Kim Sears, ABC News reported.

This isn’t the first time Sears tried some attention-grabbing tweets for Maggie May, ABC News noted. When the new dog for famous newlyweds Kate Middleton and Prince William started to grab headlines earlier this year, Sears unleashed a tweet from Maggie May’s account warning: “Kate Middleton’s dog is stealing column inches. This has not gone unnoticed, and I’ll step out without underwear tomorrow to compensate.”

Murray sent the Wimbledon crowd into a patriotic frenzy Sunday with his straight set victory over Federer in which he became the first Brit to win the gold in men’s singles. Sears was in the stands watching Sunday for Murray’s gold-medal win, the same place she sat when he lost to Federer last month in the final of Wimbledon.

Though the avenged loss and gold medal rank as probably the pinnacle of Murray’s career, the picture shouldn’t be taken as a sign that he doesn’t take the medal seriously, ABC noted. It’s more of a sign that Andy Murray’s dogs are taken very seriously.
