Whoopi Goldberg Founds Marijuana Firm To Ease Menstrual Cramp Pain

View host Whoopi Goldberg is helping launch a medical marijuana company to help ease women’s menstrual cramp pain with cannabis-infused edibles and bath salts.

Whoopi is joining forces with cannabis businesswoman Maya Elisabeth to found the company Maya and Whoopi to sell marijuana edibles, sipping chocolates, tinctures, topical creams, and a THC-infused bath soak, reports Vanity Fair.

“Hey, this niche is half the population on the earth. I have grown granddaughters who have severe cramps, so I said this is what I want to work on.”

Goldberg’s herbal healing products are more than just something pot smokers can use to get high; they’re specially designed by Maya as a way to ease women’s menstrual cramps, according to the Daily Beast.

“I feel like if you don’t want to get high high, this is a product specifically just to get rid of discomfort. Smoking a joint is fine, but most people can’t smoke a joint and go to work.”

The cannabis products were inspired by the comedian’s lifetime of difficult period cramps and Whoopi’s own reluctance to take medicines that contain chemicals to ease the pain.

The company’s first products will be available in April and include CBD and THC-infused tinctures and marijuana-based topical rubs to help ease the discomfort of period cramps, reports the Daily Beast.

“This, you can put it in your purse. You can put the rub on your lower stomach and lower back at work, and then when you get home you can get in the tub for a soak or make tea, and it allows you to continue to work throughout the day.”

Whoopi’s jump into the medical marijuana industry makes her the latest celebrity to try and cash in on the green revolution sweeping the nation.

The comedian has long been an outspoken advocate of legalized marijuana, and her newest move aligns her with other famous pot smokers like Snoop Dogg, Willie Nelson, and Woody Harrelson, who have all jumped on the green revolution lately.

When Whoopi’s San Francisco-based company launches, it will only be selling products to customers in California who have their medical marijuana cards, because pot is still illegal at the federal level.

Cannabis is rated a Schedule 1 drug by the federal government, without any redeeming value, but four states have legalized pot while another 23 states have eased restrictions.

The legal marijuana business has grown by leaps and bounds to reach some $5.7 billion nationally, and cannabis professionals expect the industry to reach $11 billion by 2019.

In the November election, a number of states along with California are expected to decide whether to legalize marijuana for recreational use, which is favored by 56 percent of the state’s voters.

That’s good news for celebrities like Snoop Dogg and Willie Nelson, who are trying to cash in on the green revolution with their own personal brands of pot flavored products.

Not everyone agrees with the movement to legalize marijuana for personal use, however. Roger Morgan and his Stop Pot 2016 campaign are dedicated to stopping the spread of legalized pot. His website claims marijuana permanently damages the brains of smokers under the age of 25.

His anti-pot movement may not be enough to stop California from legalizing cannabis, however, as an increasing number of voters in the state and across the nation are increasingly leaning toward recreational pot.
