Miley Cyrus Wants Dolly Parton As Her Mentor On ‘The Voice’

Miley Cyrus is allegedly looking to her godmother for a little help with her new role as a coach on NBC’s The Voice.

Hollywood Life is reporting that Cyrus is already planning ahead and thinking about who she’d like to sit beside her when she joins The Voice team next season, and it sounds like Miley wants someone a little bit country to give her a hand in guiding her contestants.

According to the site, Miley is planning on asking her godmother Dolly Parton to serve as her guest mentor when she officially joins the NBC talent search later this year and is considering the “Here You Come Again” singer as a “first choice” to take on the role.

“Miley’s first choice for her mentor on her season of The Voice will be her Godmother Dolly Parton,” a source close to Cyrus told Hollywood Life this week, also revealing that Cyrus would like Dolly to impart a little wisdom from her more than 50 years in the music business.

“Dolly has done The Voice in the past,” the site’s insider noted, adding that Dolly “also has had recent ties to NBC with her Coat of Many Colors movie” that aired on the network this past December.

Cyrus has so far stayed mum on reports that she’s planning on asking the country legend to join her as a mentor on the talent search, though Hollywood Life’s insider is claiming that Parton would more than likely jump at the chance to help out her goddaughter with her newest TV venture.

“Since Miley is so close to her heart and vice versa Miley has brought it up to her to do it and would love for her to accept,” the insider revealed.

Dolly has made no secret of her love and admiration for Cyrus in the past, most recently telling Us Weekly in 2014 that she’s loved Miley “since she was a little baby.”

“I’ve known her since she was a baby and I’m her fairy Godmother and I was on the Hannah Montana show quite a bit with her and I kind of got a whole new little audience because of her,” Dolly told the site of her and Cyrus’ relationship, where she also got candid about Miley’s recent transformation into a total wild child.

Noting that she was “shocked” by Miley’s image overhaul, Dolly admitted to Us Weekly at the time that Cyrus “just needed and wanted so bad to break out” of her good girl image.

“She tried every way in the world to do it and nobody would let her go,” Parton said.

“[Miley Cyrus] just had to resort to extreme measures but she pulled it off. She’s a very smart and talented girl and I really hope she does as great as I think she can and will because she’s a lot more gifted that a lot of people realize right now,” Dolly continued of Cyrus. “So I hope her choices are good, I hope she takes what she’s done now and really turns it into everything that she wants it to be.”

Parton also revealed in the interview that she just “had to laugh” about Miley’s recent risqué career choices but confessed that she knew her goddaughter “had to do it.”

“I thought ‘Wow,’ but I realized she had to do it, she had to go to that extreme, so bless her heart,” Dolly revealed of Miley, “I just hope that she has a long career and I hope that she gets a chance to do everything she wants to do.”
