Gwen Stefani & Blake Shelton Engaged: Will Miley Cyrus & Alicia Keys As ‘The Voice’ Coaches Impact Lovebirds?

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton treated delighted viewers of The Voice to the blossoming of a romance last year. With Gwen and Blake both struggling through the emotional toil of divorces (Stefani split with Gavin Rossdale, while Shelton ended his marriage to Miranda Lambert), the two learned to lean on each other for consolation and comfort amid the public spotlight that shone on their breakups. But the two quickly went from platonic pals to PDA, and The Voice audience watched it all.

The latest in the romance between Gwen and Blake? Stefani and Shelton reportedly are engaged and planning a wedding, according to an insider cited by Hollywood Life.

The romantic lead-up to the proposal began on an evening together. And although rumors previously had swirled that it was Blake planning to propose, the new report of how they got engaged indicates that Gwen was the one who popped the question.

The proposal occurred prior to Shelton’s gig hosting the Kids’ Choice Awards and also just before Stefani visited Japan. Gwen began the enchanted evening with a dinner for two at her home, and that’s when she proposed, according to the insider.

“[Shelton] was in shock. [Gwen] had been talking to friends about reversing roles and popping the question to Blake for weeks now, but she was still nervous.”

No need to feel nervous for long, fortunately, because even though Shelton was surprised, he loved the element not knowing, revealed that insider. Moreover, Gwen’s proposal wasn’t the first time that they had discussed the possibility of marriage.

“[Blake] is so glad she surprised him — that’s what he loves about her!” added the insider. “Blake has done some ‘almost’ proposals since they started dating last year. They have had long, romantic walks on their trips to Oklahoma, and they have talked a lot about marriage, but there hadn’t been a formal proposal until now.”

For spring break, Stefani visited Shelton with her sons, and the little boys have bonded with her boyfriend beautifully, from fishing to hiking. And while the not-on-camera romance between Gwen and Blake is known to their fans only through their occasional social media posts and paparazzi photos, Stefani and Shelton have shared their love in front of the cameras on The Voice.

From their time as competing and flirty coaches last season to their work together in Blake’s role as coach for The Voice and her role as mentor to Team Shelton, viewers have enjoyed their PDA and flirty fun, noted People.

“This is the great Gwen Stefani,” Blake proclaimed at one point to two members of his team.

“Blake wanted to bring in an expert to help you guys, so he called me,” teased Gwen.

“Also, she’s hot,” boasted Shelton proudly.

Just as they did last season on The Voice, the lovebirds have livened up the show with their banter.

“Rock and roll goddess, diva, legend,” gushed the country music superstar at one point in describing Stefani.

And it wasn’t just Blake giving out the compliments on The Voice. The love fest went two ways, with Gwen cooing about her boyfriend, pointed out Hollywood Life.

“You kind of have that super babe thing going right now,” Stefani sweetly informed him.

And while this flirty fun has kept their romance hot and entertained viewers, will the dynamics of their relationship change next season, when not one but two new coaches will step on The Voice stage? Some fans of the Gwen & Blake PDA parade had hoped The Voice would heat up their hookup next season by having Stefani replace current coach Christina Aguilera in the chair traditionally reserved for a female coach.

Instead, The Voice producers are shaking up the entire show by revolving two of those chairs to reveal new coaches. While Adam Levine and Shelton will keep their coach chairs, neither Gwen nor Christina is slated to warm up one of the remaining two seats.

Instead, Adam and Blake will be joined by Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys, which means that Pharrell Williams also will not coach next season, according to Today.

Just in case anyone had doubts, Miley tweeted her joy.

In addition, NBC confirmed with praise for Cyrus.

“When Miley speaks everyone pays attention. Our artists are very lucky to have the benefit of her instincts and wisdom,” stated NBC entertainment president, alternative and late night programming Paul Telegdy.

As for how this will impact Gwen and Blake’s romance, including whether Shelton will find a way to bring Stefani back on The Voice? No one is saying officially, but the change in coaches for Season 11 means that Blake and Adam will have to seek ways to compete with not one but two female coaches, pointed out the Los Angeles Times.

With Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams gone, the debut of Season 11 in September will see Cyrus and Keys battling it out against Adam and Blake.
