Will Blake Shelton Be Okay With Gwen Stefani’s ‘The Voice’ Seat Being Filled By Miley Cyrus?

Blake Shelton is likely disappointed that Gwen Stefani isn’t returning to The Voice next season, and many viewers will miss getting to watch the backwoods boy and the hollaback girl flirt with each other while they flatter aspiring singers and try to fill their teams. “Shefani” fans will have an especially hard time seeing tongue-wagging, twerk-tastic pop star Miley Cyrus sitting in Gwen’s spinning seat, but will Blake Shelton hold a grudge against the former Hannah Montana star for taking the spot that could have went to his girlfriend?

According to the Wrap, Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys will join Blake Shelton and Adam Levine on season 11 of The Voice. Blake and Adam have been on the show since its first season, and Pharrell Williams has warmed an over-sized red seat since season 7. Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera have appeared on alternating seasons since season 7.

Many viewers are not happy that Miley Cyrus is joining the show, and The Voice’s Facebook page has been flooded with comments blasting her inclusion on next season’s coaching panel.

“As much as I enjoy watching The Voice, I will no longer watch if Miley is in one of the chairs!” Ellie Gardner commented.

“I love Alicia Keys but if Miley I really gonna be a judge I am not watching the season. She’ll ruin this show. She is not a talent and not a personality this show needs,” Ashley Braswell wrote.

There are hundreds of similar comments from angry fans who are threatening to tune out during season 11 of The Voice, and some viewers might be wondering what the very opinionated, outspoken Blake Shelton thinks about the cast shakeup. As Us Weekly reports, the “Came Here to Forget” singer begged producer Carson Daly to pull some strings so that Gwen Stefani could return for this season of The Voice, but she was only invited to come back as Blake’s advisor. As the Inquisitr previously reported, Gwen Stefani also hinted that she was interested in coming back to the show during a recent episode of The Voice. While exchanging some playful banter with Blake, she joked about getting an inside look at his coaching process.

“When I come back, I can steal all his magic ideas,” Gwen said.

Even though Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have both made it known that they’d love for the “Make Me Like You” singer to return to the show, Blake probably won’t have any hard feelings toward Miley. In fact, Blake has actually admitted to being a fan of “The We Can’t Stop” singer and her crazy antics.

According to the Country Vibe, Blake Shelton defended Miley Cyrus in 2013 after singer/songwriter L*A*W tweeted that the pop princess was only successful “because she twerked on Robin Thicke & swung naked on a Wrecking Ball.”

“You can’t sell records with publicity or hype. No matter what anyone says. People buy music because they’re moved by the song or artist,” Blake Shelton tweeted in response. The country crooner also revealed that he’s a big fan of one of Miley’s mainstream pop tunes.

“Side note: I personally think ‘Wrecking Ball’ is a great song,” Shelton revealed.

Blake Shelton also talked about his admiration for Miley during a 2013 interview with Clevver Music. The “Honey Bee” singer was asked if he’d like for Miley to appear on the singing competition, and he was very enthusiastic about the idea. He also revealed that he thinks people are overreacting to her wild ways.

“Oh my gosh, I would love to have Miley,” Blake said. “Maybe I’m on the outside here, but I’m a fan of Miley. I think she’s talented, and I think the joke’s on everybody who’s upset by what she does because it’s worked.”

“When you’re selling that much music because of a trick; it’s because you got people’s attention and they listened to your record and they loved it.”

Miley Cyrus’ father is a country music star who shares Blake Shelton’s love of the mullet, and Us Weekly reports that her godmother is living legend Dolly Parton. So who knows? Maybe Miley and Blake will actually end up bonding over their country roots.

Miley is this season’s key advisor on The Voice, so fans will get to decide how they feel about her when she appears on next Monday’s episode of the show. In the “leaked” knockout round teaser below, she coaches Team Pharrell member Hannah Huston. As you can see, the former Hannah Montana star is taking her role pretty seriously.
