Ryan Reynolds could take home as many as five MTV Movie Awards this year, according to Gold Derby critics. The website’s users and editors predict that the 39-year-old actor could win big at this year’s MTV Movie Awards for his performance in Deadpool.
Throughout the years of his acting career, Ryan Reynolds has been nominated for 10 MTV Movie Awards, but he has never won one. But that could change this year, as Gold Derby‘s Top 24 Users as well as the website’s editors predict.
In particular, the website’s users predict Ryan Reynolds’ win in the Best Comedic Performance category. Fourteen out of 24 top rated users predicted the Deadpool actor’s win, giving him two-thirds odds in Best Comedic Performance.

Ryan Reynolds was previously nominated in the same category in 2010 for his role in The Proposal, but he lost to Zach Galifianakis for his performance in The Hangover.
MTV has recently announced that 2016 MTV Movie Awards ceremony will be held on April 10, and will be hosted by Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kevin Hart. And it seems that MTV has launched a whole campaign (that even involves bribery) to get Ryan Reynolds to appear shirtless at the ceremony.
And while MTV is definitely looking to boost its viewership with the help of Ryan Reynolds’ ripped body, it seems that the decision to retire the Best Shirtless Performance category this year contradicts its plans.

MTV News revealed this week the list of presenters for this year’s MTV Movie Awards ceremony. The list includes X-Men: Apocalypse star Olivia Munn, supermodel Gigi Hadid, Zac Efron, Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Jessica Chastain and Seth Rogen.
And MTV urges the ceremony’s viewers to bribe Munn and Hadid to tear Ryan Reynolds’ shirt off at the MTV Movie Awards. It wouldn’t be something extraordinary for the event, as 2014 MTV Movie Awards presenter Rita Ora tore off Zac Efron’s (who won the Best Shirtless Performance award that year) shirt onstage.
And it looks like MTV is calling the 2016 Movie Awards presenters to “go big,” as this year’s ceremony marks its 25th anniversary. But MTV already regrets its decision to remove the Best Shirtless Performance category from this year’s list of categories, as Ryan Reynolds’ win in the category, which could have been his sixth nomination at this year’s ceremony, would likely result in his shirt being torn off onstage.
Ryan Reynolds’ movie Deadpool scored eight nominations this year, while Star Wars: The Force Awakens was nominated for as many as 11 MTV Movie Awards nominations.
And MTV has even admitted that it would give Ryan Reynolds the Best Shirtless Performance award if it could. Why so much noise about the 39-year-old actor’s body all of a sudden?
According to MTV, it’s all about Wade Wilson (the character played by Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool) having his nipples with “purpose” in the movie that has grossed over $700 million worldwide. Moreover, Reynolds’ “dramatic nipples” only appear during the most tense moments for his character.
The first scene that features Ryan Reynolds’ shirtless body is when his character finds out about his terminal cancer. The second scene is when his character Wade Wilson receives treatment for it, which didn’t exactly cure his cancer, but made it so that Wilson wouldn’t die from it.
And then there is a scene when Ryan Reynolds’s character appears completely naked after ripping off his hospital gown. The actor deserves to win the award for all these scenes, but there is no MTV award for the Best Shirtless Performance anymore.
