Spice Girls Reunion Drama — Is Victoria Beckham Preventing A 2016 Tour?

The Spice Girls are ready to reunite.

Us Weekly is reporting that the Spice Girls are readying a huge reunion to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the single “Wannabe” and will be hitting the road to commemorate the two decades since the song’s 1996 release, but they could be a member down.

According to an insider who broke the news about the alleged upcoming reunion tour, the band have been planning the upcoming reunion “for the past year” and “have long been keen to do a major reunion tour together.”

But while it sounds like the Spice Girls, made up of Emma Bunton, Mel B, Mel C, Victoria Beckham, and Geri Halliwell, are excited to get back to work as a fivesome, the site is reporting that it’s Victoria who may be preventing the world from seeing all five girls back together for the first time since 2008.

Us Weekly‘s Spice Girls source is revealing that Victoria Beckham “doesn’t want to” take part in the supposed upcoming tour, though her fellow Spice Girls “are trying to convince Victoria to jump in” and take part.

“She won’t sing or dance,” the source said of Beckham, who also teased that “there’s a small chance [Victoria will] film something with them or make an appearance at a show here and there” if she does in fact opt out.

But should Beckham decide not to join her fellow Spice Girls on the reunion tour, the insider is claiming that she show will most definitely go on.

“If [Victoria] doesn’t agree, they are moving ahead without her,” Us Weekly is reporting.

Reports of a Spice Girls reconciliation come just months after Mel C teased to the Daily Star Sunday that she and her bandmates, including Victoria Beckham, may have something up their sleeves to commemorate “Wannabe’s” big birthday later this year.

Mel confessed to the site last year that she and her fellow Spice Girls would “be celebrating in some way” in 2016, where she revealed that the girls will more than likely commemorate their achievements sometime this year.

“It will have been 20 years since ‘Wannabe’ was released so we’ve got to celebrate it in some way,” Mel said.

“I’m not sure what yet but we are planning – we will get together and do something,” Sporty Spice continued at the time.

Mel B also revealed that the girlband had some kind of plans to commemorate the milestone during an appearance on Alan Carr’s New Year’s Spectacular chat show in late December, where she confessed that “it would be rude” for the Spice Girls not to celebrate.

“I think I’m the one putting all the rumors out there,” Scary Spice joked during the interview according to The Mirror, before clarifying that something could be happening for the girls soon. “To be serious, it is our twentieth anniversary this year and it would be rude not to celebrate, so hopefully something will be happening pretty soon,” Mel B continued, before teasing, “I can’t tell you what it is yet.”

Also teasing a 2016 reunion? Emma Bunton.

Bunton got candid about a reunion to The Daily Star back in 2015, where she revealed that there’s no bad blood between the five Spice Girls and admitted that the only reason the fivesome haven’t reunited sooner is because of their increasingly busy schedules.

“It’s just when the timing is right because we all have our own careers now and we have families,” Emma revealed last year, “it’s just about getting five schedules together and that’s all it is.”
