David Letterman Comes Out Of Retirement With Shocking New Look

David Letterman sure looks different these days. The former Late Night host, who said goodbye to his late night staple of 33 years in 2015, debuted his new post-retirement look, and it’s making heads turn today.

Letterman was captured running, looking heavier than usual, with a Santa-like bushy beard. The other difference in his appearance is that Letterman is now sporting a bald look. The former Late Night host was captured in St. Barts while on vacation. The only resemblance from his old persona to his new one was the iconic Letterman grin.

Some are surprised that Letterman looks drastically different from the way we know him in just a year’s time. That said, the writing was on the wall that Dave was ready to let it loose after he said goodbye. He told Whitefish Review about what bothered him the most about his put-together look.

“You know what? I used to say, every day, ‘I am so sick and tired of shaving.’ I had to shave every day, every day, for 33 years,” he explained. “And even before that when I was working on local TV. And I just thought, the first thing I will do when I am not on TV is stop shaving.”

That said, not everyone is a fan of this new look.

“Everybody hates it. My wife hates it. My son hates it, but it’s interesting. I’ve kind of developed a real creepy look with it that I’m sort of enjoying.”

The last time we heard from Mr. Letterman was back in September, when he made an appearance for a climate change docu-series he was working on called Years of Living Dangerously. Letterman traveled to India to examine the culture that has been affected by the change of the climate.

Although Letterman is in retirement, he still has his signature sense of humor. The former Late Night host made a small comeback in July to slam GOP front-runner Donald Trump. During Steve Martin and Martin Short’s “A Very Stupid Conversation show,” Letterman made an appearance to mock Trump to the delight of everyone there.

Letterman even poked fun at himself, saying, “I know you’re saying to yourselves, ‘Why is he here?’ By the way, I am so happy to be out of the house.”

He continued, “I retired and… I had no regrets. None. I was happy. I’ll make actual friends. I was complacent, I was satisfied, I was content. And then a couple of days ago, Donald Trump said he was running for president. I have made the biggest mistake of my life, ladies and gentlemen, I tell you.”

Letterman couldn’t resist pulling a joke about Trump’s hair, saying, “That thing on his head was the gopher in Caddyshack.”

During his appearance on the stage show, Letterman definitely looked like he was in the beginning stages of growing his beard out, but his look is nothing in comparison to what he looks like today.

The reactions to Letterman’s new look have spanned the gamut. We wouldn’t be surprised if someone made a top 10 list to commemorate the new style.
