Two new trailer videos have been released for the highly anticipated Warcraft movie. While some of the footage has been seen before, there is still plenty of new information to absorb.
Some fans of the Warcraft games franchise are a little concerned at how game-to-movie conversions have happened in the past. But, for others, there is the hope that the Warcraft movie will be the exception to the rule.
“Legendary’s Warcraft is a 3D epic adventure of world-colliding conflict based upon Blizzard Entertainment’s globally-renowned universe. Directed by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) and written by Charles Leavitt and Duncan Jones, the film is a Legendary Pictures, Blizzard Entertainment and Atlas Entertainment production. The producers are Charles Roven, Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni, Alex Gartner and Stuart Fenegan. Jillian Share, Brent O’Connor, Michael Morhaime and Paul Sams serve as executive producers. Rob Pardo, Chris Metzen, Nick Carpenter and Rebecca Steel Roven co-produce.”
Fans can now check out the first of the latest trailer videos for the Warcraft movie below.
As well as some new footage, the latest trailer for the Warcraft movie, which was released during the Halo World Championships, also comes with an updated synopsis.
“The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.
“So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.”
The first trailer is only 30 seconds long but the second trailer is double the length, giving fans a bigger look into the Warcraft movie. The clip opens with a fight breaking out between a human and an orc. It can be viewed below.
If the Warcraft movie is the hit, as its creators are expecting, fans can look forward to at least another two movies in the Warcraft franchise. Warcraft’s director, Duncan Jones, is also eager to be on board if two more movies eventuate, as he told i09 recently.
“I am pretty convinced that Chris Metzen [Blizzard story and franchise director] and I have a very good idea of what story we can tell in three films, given the opportunity.”
With the Warcraft movie coming out in June, promotions are only just beginning. Up until this point, there has really been little on offer in regards to images and the storyline. Hopefully all that will change in the months leading up to the release date. But, in the meantime, fans can rest assured that there will be a line of Warcraft Funko Pop figurines to collect. As well as the standard Funko Pops (offering Lothar, Orgrim, King Llane, Garona and Durotan so far), fans can also get their favorite Warcraft movie figures in the Dorbz and Mystery Minis Blind Box varieties.
The Warcraft movie will be released in 3D by Universal Pictures on Friday, June 10. For fans of Aussie actor Travis Fimmel, Warcraft has been reported by News.com.au as premiering on June 16.
