Safaree Samuels Posts Sad Tweet After Nicki Minaj Opens Up About Wanting A Family With Meek Mill

Safaree Samuels and Nicki Minaj may have called off their longtime relationship two years ago, but it appears that the former couple is still taking time to reflect on their past romance.

Earlier this week, NYLON Magazine released a preview of their April, 2016, cover story interview with Nicki Minaj in which the “Feeling Myself” rapper opens up about what fans can expect from her new music, the engagement rumors surrounding her current relationship with Meek Mill, and her emotional split from longtime boyfriend, Safaree Samuels.

Speaking on the nature of her headline-making split from Safaree in 2014, Minaj admits that the breakup inadvertently helped to influence many of the tracks off of her The Pinkprint album that released that same year.

In regard to the attention surrounding her split from Safaree Samuels, Nicki explained her position.

“I needed time to hear myself think again. Because where I left off with The Pinkprint was a little bit emotionally unstable…Now, I want my happiness to be reflected in the new stuff.”

While Nicki and Meek Mill have been igniting engagement rumors since confirming their relationship status last year, Minaj maintains that she and the Philly rapper aren’t engaged just yet.

“I’m not engaged yet,” Nicki explained to the magazine, albeit noting that Meek Mill often mistakenly refers to her as his fiancée, “He said that my third ring would be my engagement ring. But sometimes he calls me his fiancée, and I’m always trying to stop him like, ‘Nope! I ain’t got that third ring yet!’ We’re just taking it one step at a time.”

In addition to dishing on the engagement rumors surrounding her relationship with Meek Mill, Nicki also opens up about her future plans to start a family.

“If I get married, then I’ll have a child. And that’ll be fun, because I can’t wait to hold my baby.”

Shortly after the excerpts from Minaj’s interview were posted online, Safaree Samuels took to Twitter to share a melancholy message about his love life and plans for a family, BET reports.

“I think I need to just be single for the rest of my life or a long time,” Safaree began in his message on Wednesday, “Guess ill [sic] never have kids. I have some things that need to be fixed.”

In addition, Safaree also took to Instagram to share two video snippets of himself playing his tracks “Can’t Lie” and “Love The Most,” both of which are widely rumored to have been inspired by his romance with Minaj, from his It Is What It Is Vol. 2 mixtape that dropped in 2015.

In response to Safaree’s moody social media posts, fans took to the comment section of Samuels’ Instagram videos to offer words of encouragement to the rapper in regard to his split from Nicki.

“Always cry when am [sic] listening to this song…Still can’t believe you & Nicki ain’t no more…Y’all were my favorite,” one fan wrote while another adds, “y’all need to get back together @nickiminaj.”

The news comes just months after Safaree offered his well-wishes to ex, Nicki Minaj, and Meek Mill in regard to the duo’s engagement rumors, telling Billboard that he holds no “ill will” towards Minaj in regard to her new romance.

“I just wish ’em all the best,” Safaree explained of Nicki’s relationship with Meek Mill, “You know I don’t have an ill feeling going towards anyone. From my side, it’s nothing but love.”

“Once you’re happy, that’s all that matters,” Safaree continued, “Nobody wants to be sad and miserable, so if you’re happy and you’re really happy, you know, God bless.”
