Netflix’s new series The Ranch reunites Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson for the first time since That 70’s Show ended.
An official trailer has been released for The Ranch and fans will see a whole new side to both Kutcher and Masterson. The comedy show features Ashton’s character Colt returning home to the family business, the ranch, after years of chasing his football dreams with very little success. Danny plays his brother Rooster, who has been home helping their dad, played by the very talented Sam Elliott, with the family business. Debra Winger rounds out the very talented cast; she plays the matriarch of the family.

The trailer gives fans a glimpse into the lives of Kutcher, Masterson, and Elliott’s characters. You have Ashton’s character, who is still fighting for the life he dreams of, and Danny’s character, who has been the one to help out at the family’s Colorado ranch while his brother was gone. It is kind of a prodigal-son-returns type of relationship but with a much less serious vibe to it. Then there is Elliott’s character, who dishes out unwanted but sensible advice to his sons in a very unique and funny manner.
While The Ranch does reunite Danny Masterson and Ashton Kutcher, they are definitely not playing Kelso and Hyde. This time around the guys are brothers, which make both Ashton and Danny even more enjoyable to watch. It is hard to tell exactly what kind of relationship the two have from the trailer, but what you can see is some tension and some very funny brother bonding moments.
The Ranch may be bringing Kutcher and Masterson back together, but it is the addition of Winger and Elliott as their parents that make this one a very intriguing show. Both Debra and Sam are super talented and this time they are showcasing their comedic side.

It isn’t completely clear what the premise of The Ranch is but one thing is for sure, it is not your typical family comedy. There is a lot of Ashton shirtless, which is always a plus, as well as some cursing, which can be heard in the NSFW trailer. Not that a show having curse words in it means that it is not family friendly, as these days curse words seem to be more tolerable. However, it is certainly not a Family Ties or Full House kind of comedy.
Based on what you can tell from the trailer, the show appears to be filled with great one-liners and comedic timing. The scene where Ashton and Elisha Cuthbert, who plays his love interest, are getting hot and heavy in the barn and start a fire is hysterical. This cast is made up of actors who can kill it when it comes to doing comedy.
If the trailer for The Ranch is any indication, then it looks like Netflix will likely have another hit on their hands.
