Katy Perry Called Out By Dr. Luke’s Sister For Not Supporting Him, Says Experience Is Tearing Family Apart

Dr. Luke has been a hot topic in the headlines recently due to the accusation brought against him by musical artist Kesha, who stated that the producer sexually assaulted her. Dr. Luke has denied the claims, and Kesha was denied her request for an injunction against him.

Now the doc’s sister is speaking up, frustrated that the producer’s friends in the industry haven’t come forward on his behalf, mainly Katy Perry. During an interview with the Daily Mail, Dr. Luke’s sister Vezna Gottwald called out female artists who have gone MIA and not stepped forward to support her brother.

Radio.com shares the relationship between Dr. Luke and Perry while noting Gottwald’s words on the subject.

“Dr. Luke produced many hits for Perry including ‘I Kissed A Girl,; ‘Teenage Dream,’ ‘Last Friday Night’ and ‘Dark Horse.’ She has yet to comment publicly on the situation. ‘I’ve been thinking why doesn’t Katy Perry stand up… she is his friend?’”

Vezna also noted how sick she feels about Taylor Swift donating money to Kesha for her supposed troubling situation and indicated that money should be donated to real women who are suffering from real abuse and terrible circumstance, not to a multimillionaire who is accusing someone of a crime they apparently didn’t even commit.

“Taylor Swift gave all this money, but it is such a shame that real women that have suffered and gone through that, don’t get to see that money. She should have given it to a rape charity. I find it horrendous there is no other voice other than hers (Kesha) being heard. He is just not that sleazy producer that people are making him out to be.”

In addition to Swift’s donation to Kesha, other performers have stepped up in support of the “Tic Toc” singer and her case. Lady Gaga performed at the Oscars and noted that the performance was in honor of Kesha, as the Daily Mail explains.

“It was a powerful performance which brought many in the star-studded audience to tears. Lady Gaga set the Oscars alight when she performed the nominee for Best Original Song, Til It Happens to You – a song she dedicated to fellow popstar Kesha and to the millions of rape victims without a voice around the world. But for record producer Dr. Luke, who is embroiled in a legal battle with Kesha accused of drugging and raping the Tik Tok singer, the performance hit hard. Dr. Luke, 42, vehemently denies the accusations and is countersuing for breach of contract and defamation.”

Vezna shares that the whole situation and the accusations surrounding her brother are absolutely tearing their family apart and have been “horrible” for her Dr. Luke. During the interview, Vezna likens the actions against her brother and the group of women coming against him in support of Kesha to the Salem witch hunt. She emotionally shares how difficult and terrible the experience has been for their family.

“There is nobody shouting out for my brother and this has been very painful and horrible for all of us. What happened to anyone having integrity and trying to find the truth? It’s incredible that anybody can just slander somebody who is a good man and they know nothing about. It is so difficult for him to fight back when all of these huge stars like Adele and Taylor Swift are coming out in support of her and it really is affecting all of our family. It’s like the Salem witch trials, but we know who the real witch is behind all this. If this was a Disney story that my son was watching she (Kesha) would be the evil Cruella.”
