WWE Superstar Brock Lesnar is just as popular as ever, which meant that his match at WrestleMania 32 needed to be big. Going in, we weren’t quite sure where WWE was leaning. During the Royal Rumble match, The Wyatt Family and Lesnar seemed to start a program, and most fans thought that this would equal a storyline at WrestleMania. Rumors grew that Bray Wyatt would face Lesnar, and it made total sense.
The prospect of the two clashing at WrestleMania was certainly appealing. Many fans were into the idea, as the match had been an interesting idea for a couple years now. The Wyatt Family simply were busy with other people like John Cena and The Undertaker. Meanwhile, Lesnar was at the top of the card, taking on all comers as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Sadly, WWE changed up the program, which was said to have irritated Lesnar, who did want to work with Bray. The match was then changed to Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar in a street fight. Most fans seemed perfectly fine with this, but it meant that nothing would come of the Wyatt match. WWE was able to switch this up to help rush along the Wyatt rivalry and end it quickly.
Lesnar and Wyatt will be facing off at WWE Roadblock, a WWE Network special set to air in a few weeks.
According to the Daily Wrestling News, WWE still has big plans to push Braun Strowman of The Wyatt Family. Reports had him facing The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but online backlash to this changed those plans up big time. It was said Undertaker did not want to work with Strowman either, so that pretty much killed off the idea in a hurry. There were even some discussions early on that the Wyatt rivalry with Lesnar would allow them to put Strowman against Lesnar.
That rivalry could still go down at WWE SummerSlam.
There are some who believe Braun Strowman will go over Lesnar, which would not make a lot of sense right now due to Lesnar’s skill and ability to match strength. As of now, Strowman is still the best opponent for Lesnar. There are some who believe Strowman is set to become the next Big Show or Kane for WWE, which would be good for the future of WWE, but not the present.
Braun Strowman is still very green, which means in order for fans to take him seriously, he will need to improve his in-ring abilities. This was the main reason online fans hated the idea of him facing Undertaker so quickly into his run, as fans felt he had not earned the right to face The Deadman at WrestleMania.
Many within WWE are still against the Braun Strowman push, but Vince McMahon is said to be a big fan and wants to see what he can get out of him.
At the present time, it will be Bray who represents the family against the Beast Incarnate. Wyatt had pushed hard for a match with Lesnar at WrestleMania, and Lesnar was all for the match happening there as well. However, they will instead face off on the WWE Network special. It won’t be quite as special, but it is said that WWE is treating this show like a major event. They will even have a WWE World Title defense on the show as Triple H will take on Dean Ambrose. Many wonder why WWE didn’t just put this in place of WWE Fast Lane, but that is another case for another time.
