Oscars 2016 — From Leonardo DiCaprio And Kate Winslet To Chris Rock, What You Didn’t See On TV [Photos]
The 2016 Oscars delivered a lot of great moments, as Hollywood’s best gathered for a night to remember. While the cameras caught most of the action firsthand, plenty more happened behind the scenes. From Leonardo DiCaprio’s precious reunion with Kate Winslet to Chris Rock’s mingling backstage, here is everything you didn’t see on TV.
For starters, Us Magazine is reporting that the 2016 Oscars proved to be DiCaprio’s best to date. Not only did he take home his first Academy Award ever for his part in The Revenant, but he also shared a hug with his Titanic co-star, Kate Winslet.
Speaking of Gaga, the singer performed an emotional and Oscar-nominated track, “Til It Happens,” at the event. Following her performance, which left Olivia Wilde speechless backstage, Gaga had to change dresses and rush back to her seat in time for the Original Song announcement.
Speaking of Rock, he and Dave Chappelle met up during a break and snapped a photo together. At the same time, Rock took an opportunity to sell Girl Scout goodies at the event. Theron was spotted buying some Girl Scout cookies during the event, which managed to bring in a whopping $65,000 by the end of the night.
In addition to Mad Max winning big at the 2016 Oscars, the night had a few surprising winners. This included Brie Larson, who won her first Oscar in the category of best actress for Room. After winning the award, Larson could barely hold in her enthusiasm backstage.
After accepting her award, Marc Malkin snapped a photo of the actress waiting to get her trophy engraved. In the photo, which was posted to Instagram, Larson held a glass of champagne as she waited patiently for the inscription.
At the same time, Alicia Vikander was also ecstatic as she took home a gold trophy for best supporting actress for The Danish Girl. Backstage, Vikander held her trophy high for photographers and smiled big in her stunning Louis Vuitton dress.
Wrapping up the night, DiCaprio and Arnold Milkman, a producer on The Revenant, shared a few moments together which caught the attention of Steven Spielberg and his wife, Kate Capshaw. DiCaprio hung around for a little while with Jennifer Meyer and Tobey Maguire before leaving the Oscars.
