Did Sophie Turner Just Drop A Huge ‘Game Of Thrones’ Spoiler At The Oscars?

Sophie Turner may just have dropped a huge hint for season six of Game of Thrones.

Earlier this year, the world was disappointed to find out that the author of the book series that inspired the HBO show will not release a new book before the sixth season comes out in April. Author George R.R. Martin apologized to fans since the season would premiere before its source material and, therefore, possibly spoil plot twists and surprises for die-hard fans.

Now, actress Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa Stark on the show, may have just given fans a huge spoiler for the new season.

Earlier this month, Turner told Vanity Fair that this season will be original, captivating and unlike anything else we’ve seen so far (especially for Sansa).

“This season is a really, really big one for Sansa. It’s probably her best season yet. It’s her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good. [Fans will] finally [get] that storyline that [they’ve] been craving for the past five seasons…it feels like it’s been building up and up to that. You can only suffer so much before she finally gets…the respect that she deserves.”

For much of the past five seasons, Sansa Stark has been trapped in one way or another, often stuck in unfortunate relationships. Since the last season left Sansa running from her rapist husband, this is definitely a hopeful turn for the character.

The night of the Oscars, however, provided the perfect outlet for a bigger spoiler from Sophie Turner.

Sophie, 20, arrived on the Red Carpet robed in a luxurious grey gown and tossing her long, ginger locks. In an interview with E! host Guiliana Roncic, Sophie said that Sansa does not die in the upcoming season!

“Flicking through [the script] I’m like, death, death, death… I’m alright this season.”

Daily Mail said that this fate is a surprising one for Sansa, based on the ending of the fifth season, which could easily have been leading up to a terrible death for Stark.

“Given how her character escaped from the castle of her bloodthirsty sadist husband Ramsay Bolton, whom she wed in a bigamist union no less, she seemed certain to be the latest to be bumped off in what would surely be a particularly unpleasant way.”

With Game of Throness notorious history of killing off characters, it is comforting to know that Sansa will at least make it through another season. The Inquisitr reported earlier this month that many of the stars of the popular HBO series have been giving hints at the plot, but Vanity Fair explained why this major plot slip was a game-changer for fans.

“In their morbid marketing for Season 6, Game of Thrones wants us all to believe that any number of our favorite characters could die this season. But now we know one person is safe. That person? Poor Sansa Stark.”

It was exciting to see Sophie Turner present at the Oscars after she skipped out on the Golden Globes. Not only did she provide some priceless insight into the plot of the upcoming season, but her presence alone was an wonderful addition to the Oscars.

“After Turner skipped the Golden Globes a few months ago, there was no telling whether or not she’d show up for the biggest awards show of the year,” Bustle reported. “When she popped up in the E! red carpet interview room, her presence was a welcome shock.”

Sophie Turner represented not only Game of Thrones at the Oscars, but also X-Men: Apocalypse, in which she plays young Jean Grey.
