Black Lives Matter Activist Ashley Williams Confronts Clinton About Her ‘Super Predators’ Comment, Is Escorted Out [Video]

Black Lives Matter activist Ashley Williams paid to get into a private event where Hillary Clinton was discussing the issue of mass incarceration. During the event, she stepped into the area where the former Secretary of State was speaking while silently holding a protest sign, as shown in the video above. Clinton’s event was held in South Carolina on February 24, 2016, according to reports. William’s sign declared, “We have to bring them to heel,” which is a quote from Hillary Clinton from 1996, in which she was reportedly referring to at-risk youth and explaining her support of The Crime Act.

“Hillary Clinton has a pattern of throwing the Black community under the bus when it serves her politically,” Williams said in a statement, according to the Huffington Post.

In the middle of Hillary Clinton’s presentation, the former first lady stops to read the sign.

Clinton slowly reads the text of the banner into the microphone, nods her head, and says, “Okay. We’ll talk about it.”

As Ms. Williams starts to explain what she wants from Mrs. Clinton, Mrs. Clinton speaks over her, repeating that they will talk about it.

As Williams tries to speak, Clinton cuts her off again and immediately asks, “Well, can I talk? Then maybe you can listen to what I say. Okay. Thank you very much.”

Clinton then turns to the audience and starts explaining that there are a lot of issues and begins to refer to a speech she gave back in April.

Williams says, “You called black people super predators.”

Then, a man approaches Williams, says something we can’t hear, touches William’s shoulder, and then stands back. Meanwhile, the crowd shouts to Williams that she is being rude and inappropriate.

Clinton asks Williams, “You wanna hear the facts, or do you just want to talk?”

Someone in the crowd shouts to Williams, “You’re trespassing!”

Williams paid $500 for entry into the event, according to the Washington Times.

Williams tells Clinton she owes Black people an apology. As Williams continues to explain what she wants an apology for, Clinton tells her that she will address the issue if she is given a chance to talk.

Williams asks Clinton something that can’t be made out due to the commotion in the room, and Clinton responds, visibly aggravated and leaning in toward Williams, “You know what, nobody’s ever asked me before!”

“You’re the first person to ask me,” Clinton continues as Williams is escorted away from the former first lady by a man who grabs her by the waist and then over the back of her shoulders. “And I’m happy to address it, but you are the first person to ask me.”

Williams walks away with the man, who, according to Williams was a Secret Service member, and exists out the door.

Hillary Clinton, once Williams is headed out the door, turns to the audience and says, “Um. OK. Back to the issues.”

The video was uploaded by YouTube user #NotASuperpredator, and the caption reads, “Why Hillary Clinton doesn’t deserve the black vote,” which links to an article in the Nation, written by Michelle Alexander.

The article discusses what she says is an unjustified, long-standing love affair between black people and the Clintons.

“According to some polls, she leads Bernie Sanders by as much as 60 percent among African Americans. It seems that we—black people—are her winning card, one that Hillary is eager to play.

“And it seems we’re eager to get played. Again.”

“Hillary is now relying on black voters in the South to never watch YouTube or listen to other black folks tell them how bigoted Hillary Clinton was and continues to be,” Tim Black, a radio show host, public speaker, and activist, says of the video of Ashley Williams.

Black uploaded his response to the protest at the Clinton event in South Carolina and the way Clinton handled it.

On a blog of the Levine Museum of the New South, Williams is featured as a prominent youth activist, and she explains how her generation of activism is different than earlier civil rights activism.

“Other generations need to listen to us and get out of our way! It’s our turn to fight for freedom. We have learned from the mistakes of our elders. We have taken so much away from the successes of our elders. Now, it’s time for us to lead the way. We need the support of other generations, and we need them to give us space.”

Do you think Clinton’s response to Ashley Williams’ protest at the event was too dismissive of the Black Lives Matter youth activist’s questions?
