Tiger Woods Hits Triple Bogey, Drops Out Of Contention At British Open [Video]

It wasn’t likely, but there was a chance that Tiger Woods could have won the British Open.

He was five strokes heading into Sunday and started the round with five straight pars. At the 6th hole, however, it all fell apart.

Woods hit a rare triple bogey and dropped from even further behind Adam Scott.

Yahoo reports that Tiger had done well at the 6th hole throughout the tournament. For the last three days, Tiger hit birdies at the 6th hole. Today, however, it tore him apart.

Tiger hit a five iron into a deep sand trap and had to take two tough shots to get the ball out. Once he did, he was left with a 40-foot shot for bogey. Tiger left it short, missed a putt, and ended up marking down a triple bogey.

CBS reports that Tiger’s playing partner, Thorbjorn Olesen, had a similar shot during the third round.

Tiger’s caddie Joe LaCava said:

“Alright, just go with it. I mean he was up against the lip with the same kind of lie, but he got it out. I know it was a little higher, but that’s what he had yesterday.”

Woods was hoping to win his 15th Major Championship today but it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen.

Here’s a video of Tiger Woods’ triple bogey.
