After Fastlane ended on Sunday night, there was one match set and confirmed fro WrestleMania 32 and it was the WWE Title match for the main event. As Monday Night Raw rolled on, more and more matches started being added to the card, and some hinted at. Due to some things that took place on Sunday night as well, there is some steam being added to the rumor that a huge triple threat TLC match for the Tag Team Titles will happen between The New Day, The Usos, and the Dudley Boyz.
Wrestling fans know of the classic TLC tag matches between the Dudleys, Edge & Christian, and the Hardy Boyz. WWE could look to try and make a modern-day classic with one of those teams and two of the hottest tag teams in all of the company today.
The Dudley Boyz have now turned heel and as recapped by WrestleZone, they came out on Monday Night Raw to confront The Usos. When the Dudleys turned heel, they did so by taking out the Usos and attacking them from behind.
It’s hard to think that WWE would have just a straight-forward match at WrestleMania 32 between the two biggest tag teams behind the champs.
That’s where The New Day comes in, and they oddly took a bit of a face turn on Sunday night at Fastlane. No, they didn’t have a match and their titles weren’t on the line, but they did appear on the debut of “The Cutting Edge Peep Show” hosted by two WWE legends.
During that segment, they appeared to gain the backing of a team that was involved in those epic TLC matches from the WWE Attitude Era – Edge & Christian.
When the League of Nations came out to the ring, Edge and Christian stood behind The New Day and even danced with them in the aisle. It certainly appeared like the magical unicorns were more of the babyfaces while the crowd obviously came down on the League.
The New Day is still without much of a program, and on Monday Night Raw, but they did pull out a victory over The Lucha Dragons and Neville, as recapped by WWE.com. Still, they’re without anything to do or anyone to feud with for WrestleMania 32.
That’s where a conversation from November comes back into play and it was in an interview the Dudley Boyz had with Talk Sport. In the interview, the Dudley Boyz were talking about the TLC matches of the past and if it could be done today.
D-Von Dudley said how hard it would be to do a type of match like that without Edge and Christian and without the Hardy Boyz. He said that it would need to be done with teams that will be “able to tell that story” from beginning to end.
Bubba Ray Dudley said that’s not to put down any of the teams or wrestlers on WWE’s current roster, but it has to be the right people in the match. When asked if it could be possible to have a TLC match with any tag teams today, Bubba immediately named two in particular.
“Asking us right now we’d go for New Day and the Usos.
“You have to have such chemistry with the other guys you’re in there with where you know what they’re thinking, they know what we’re thinking, we all know what the match is backwards and forwards.”
Both The Usos and The New Day could easily be the teams to trust in keeping the legacy of those classic matches alive. They have the talent and the experience to work it, and the Dudleys to guide them through the right way.
The Dudley Boyz seem to be continuing their program with The Usos and The New Day are without anything to do. It would certainly seem like this is the way WWE is heading as WrestleMania 32 approaches, and a triple threat TLC match for the Tag Team Titles is one that fans would easily want to see and enjoy.
