Ronda Rousey’s Boyfriend, Travis Browne, Divorced From Jenna Renee Webb: Engagement Ring Means Marriage/Wedding Date?

It’s official! Ronda Rousey’s boyfriend, Travis Browne, divorced model Jenna Renee Webb officially within the courts, freeing the MMA couple to discuss marriage plans. The rumors suggest Rousey is engaged to Browne already, since she was spotted wearing what appeared to be a large engagement ring, but Rousey’s wedding date may face some controversy based upon Browne’s alleged history of domestic abuse, never mind the opinion of Rousey’s mother, Dr. Ann Marie De Mars.

The controversy over Ronda Rousey’s fiancé started when Jenna Webb’s Instagram account shared photos of bruises on her arms, face, and legs, and mentioned that she had decided to “walk away” before claiming Browne was responsible.

“Probably one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made was walking away from this life and starting over. I’m still ashamed for staying as long as I did,” she said.

In response, the UFC had Travis Browne suspended indefinitely, and he was subsequently removed from all International Fight Week events during the investigation, but Browne denied the accusations of domestic violence. Jenna Renee’s marriage to Browne occurred on January 9, 2015, but by by the third of June, they were already split up.

In August of 2015, Jenna Renee made it clear she had been aware of Ronda Rousey dating her then-husband.

“I’m pretty disgusted… more so in her. But I’ve known this for a while,” Jenna stated on Twitter. “Let’s hope it doesn’t go there but if it does she [Rousey] chose to be with a married man undergoing investigation for domestic violence. I did my part.”

Ronda Rousey’s mom also seemed to disapprove of the dating relationship. AnnMarie De Mars is a former world judo champion and a video game developer CEO, but she often spends time on Twitter musing about MMA and her daughter’s life. In October of 2015, Rousey’s mother created a series of tweets labeled as #advicefromMom.

“First sign what you are doing is wrong: If you get mad when anyone mentions it. Second sign what you’re doing is wrong. If you feel the need to hide it from people who care about you,” she wrote. “Third sign what you are doing is wrong: you try to avoid thinking about it. If all of your friends and family think someone is a d*****bag, he’s not misunderstood, he (or she) is a d*****bag.”

While Rousey’s mom did not specifically mention Travis Browne, the tweets were written shortly after Browne made his dating relationship with Rousey public. In addition, Rousey’s older sisters are married, and Rousey’s youngest teenage sister keeps her personal life private.

Rousey’s loss to Holly Holm in UFC 193 was a definite turning point in her life, both professionally and emotionally. Earlier in the month, Rousey revealed on the The Ellen DeGeneres Show that she had even contemplated suicide shortly after losing.

“Honestly… I was, like, in the medical room, and I was down in the corner. I was sitting in the corner like, ‘What am I anymore if I’m not this?’ ” she said through tears. “And I was literally sitting there and thinking about killing myself. In that exact second I’m like, ‘I’m nothing, what do I do anymore? And no one gives a s**t about me anymore without this.’ ”

Even before UFC 193, Rousey had publicly announced plans for taking a break away from MMA fighting. But she says the despair she felt after losing was only broken by her boyfriend.

“I looked up and I saw my man — Travis was standing up there — and I looked up at him and I was like, ‘I need to have his babies. I need to stay alive.’ Really that was it,” she revealed.

Speaking to Activ8Media, Browne discussed in depth what it meant for him to be there for Rousey during her trials.

“I was there to support her in any way I could, just like any man would do for his woman,” Browne said. “It’s pretty simple. There’s no magic in it. We go through those dark times and we need someone to lean on… I would go through hell and back for her.”

Browne says the support system between them has been “incredible,” with the MMA fighter claiming these events “happened for a reason and there’s a great purpose.” He also says that he is “impressed” by how genuine Rousey is as a person.

“What impresses me most is the woman that she is. She is who she is 100 percent of the time and I really respect that about her, just the woman she is and that’s what I love most about her,” he said.

The question is, will we hear about plans for a Ronda Rousey wedding soon? According to TMZ, a judge recently signed off on Travis Browne’s divorce from Jenna Renee, with the report noting that the UFC never found any evidence of domestic violence. In addition, in January Ronda was sporting what appeared to be a large engagement ring on her left hand, so some believe marriage is in her near future.
