Powerball Winning Numbers And Winners For Feb. 17, Watch Live Drawing Video As Jackpot Rolls To $212 Million

The Powerball winning numbers results and winners for February 17 are in. No one won the Powerball jackpot that was an estimated $189 million, and it has rolled to $212 million, sparking more interest in the popular lottery game nationwide. The next Powerball drawing will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2016. All Powerball drawings are held live from the Florida Lottery studios located in Tallahassee. The drawings take place at 10:59 p.m., ET. Here is the latest video of the February 17 drawing as it occurred live along with the winning numbers.

The Powerball winning numbers are 7, 17, 27, 29, 40, and 25 is the Power Ball. The Power Play Multiplier is 2x.

There hasn’t been a grand prize Powerball winner since three winning tickets were sold on January 13, 2016, in the largest Powerball drawing known in history. The Powerball jackpot had rolled to a whopping $1.58 billion, and three winning tickets were sold in Tennessee, California, and Florida. The Tennessee Powerball jackpot winners were the first to come forward and claim their prize. Their names are John and Lisa Robinson, and the couple bought four Quick Pick tickets and happened to win their share of the billion-dollar jackpot. The Robinsons opted for a lump-sum cash payment. They appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to share their excitement and shock over winning the Powerball jackpot.

The Florida Powerball jackpot winners are named Maureen Smith and David Kaltschmidt. They chose not to come forward right away and claim their prize. Instead, they sought legal counsel and advice. They kept their win a secret from even their children and managed to main a low profile until coming forward in a press conference on February 17. You can watch video of that press conference and hear Maureen’s and David’s amazing story below. Maureen Smith stated that she purchased two tickets, a Quick Pick and a ticket, and she played “her numbers.” David said she had been playing the same numbers for 30 years.

The California Powerball winner has yet to come forward. However, there is speculation that now that the Florida and Tennessee winners are public, the California winner will be revealed soon. Due to the fact the winner has kept a low profile, many rumors circulated social media networks, including a terrible rumor saying the winner had overdosed on crack cocaine and died.

There wasn’t a jackpot winner in the February 17 Powerball drawing, nor was there a Match 5 winner with the Power Play multiplier. However, there were three winning Match 5 tickets sold in New York, Oklahoma, and Vermont. Those tickets were for $1 million apiece. In total, $9,419,194 was won in non-jackpot prizes, and there were 751,200 winners nationwide.

Powerball has quickly become the nation’s most popular jackpot lottery game, followed by Mega Millions. With jackpots that can amass into the billions, many people become excited when the jackpot rolls from one drawing to the next. The Powerball jackpot is again on a great roll and has now crossed the $200 million mark, whereas Mega Millions has crossed the $100 million threshold.

When playing Powerball, you can choose between a Quick Pick ticket that consists of letting the computer randomly select your numbers, or play your own numbers. The Robinsons won the $1.58 billion jackpot with a Quick Pick, while Maureen Smith won by playing the same numbers she had played for years. For those looking for a strategy for winning the lottery, it might be that Maureen Smith has set the best example. Instead of playing random numbers only through Quick Picks or choosing your own numbers, why not do both. Play two tickets at $2 each, and maybe add the Power Play multiplier. Play your own numbers as well as a Quick Pick. Lottery strategies are varied and there are many suggestions out there, but it seems there was wisdom in Maureen Smith’s strategy.

Do you play Powerball regularly? Do you have your own winning strategies? Stay tuned for the next Powerball drawing on Saturday, as we’ll have live coverage of the drawing as well as the winning numbers’ and updates on winners.

Good luck!
