Joey Feek Cancer Update: Joey And Rory Celebrate The Release Of Their Final Album, Prepare For Indiana’s Second Birthday

Joey and Rory Feek have a lot to celebrate, despite Joey’s current battle with terminal cancer.

On Friday, February 12, Joey and Rory’s final, and most important, album, Hymns That Are Important To Us, was released for purchase at all Cracker Barrel stores throughout the United States.

Rory has spoken about the album several times before on his blog This Life I Live, and on Friday he shared Joey’s emotional reaction to actually holding the CD in her hand.

“Yesterday Joey and I looked at the CD together and talked about how beautiful it is and how if the taping had been a week later… it wouldn’t have happened. It couldn’t have,” Rory wrote, explaining that they filmed the concert for the album just one week before they found out Joey’s cancer had returned. “About how God must’ve known. How He always knows. His timing is perfect. I loved watching Joey looking, reading… holding one this last dream of hers in her hands.”

Along from the original version of the album, Rory revealed that there is a special version called a ZinePak that features a booklet with stories from their lives and his blog. The special version, Rory says, is only available at Cracker Barrel stores.

“There’s a special version of the new record called a ZinePak, that is in Cracker Barrel’s only I think,” Feek wrote. “And it has the neatest little page booklet that it comes in… filled with almost 50 pages of stories from our lives and from this blog. Our life story. Our love story. Part of it anyway.”

Aside from the release of their final album, Joey and Rory have some other special events taking place in the coming week. Valentine’s Day is Sunday, and Rory has planned a night of reminiscing with his wife. Also, the Grammy Awards take place on Monday night, and the country music duo will get to find out if they won the award for the Vocal Group of the Year. Finally, Joey and Rory get to celebrate the most important day of all — the day their little girl turns two.

According to a previous report from the Inquisitr,Indiana Boone Feek was born on February 17, 2014. She weighed in at eight pounds two ounces, and was 20 inches long. Joey prepared for the birth by reading book after book, and welcomed her daughter at their home with the help of a midwife.

“Although that news came at first as a surprise to us, Joey and I wouldn’t have changed a thing,” Rory wrote at the time. “During the pregnancy, we never did an ultrasound, or saw a doctor, nor would it have made any difference if we had. We trusted that God would give us the baby He wanted us to have… and He has. Out of all the parents in the world, He has chosen us to care for and raise this special gift.”

Now, Joey and Rory are preparing to celebrate Indiana’s second birthday, which will be complete with a “Gruffalo-theme.” On Friday, Rory shared the details of Indy’s party, revealing that the “terrible two’s” would describe it perfectly.

“That’s a perfect description of the birthday party we have planned for Indy,” Rory wrote. “It’s of course going to be Gruffalo-themed…he has ‘terrible teeth in his terrible jaws!’. My mother-in-law June is going to make Indy a paleo ‘Gruffalo crumble’ cupcake and we’ll have ‘owl ice cream’… and we will do our best to make it the very special day that it is.”

Because Joey won’t be able to get out of bed for the party, Rory said they will bring the party to her and adjust anything they need to to make sure Joey is in on every part of the celebration.

“Our plan is to put streamers up around Joey’s bed and move Indiana’s high-chair in beside her, so Joey can be part of it. So she can watch our little-one eat her cupcake and rip the wrapping paper off her gifts,” Rory continued. “But Joey is very fragile right now, and so with all of these plans we have, we will need to adjust for what my wife needs.”
